Thanks all.

Not really on many chat services these days, but if anyone wants to catch up you can most easily find me on Discord - Halbarad#8157.

Finally getting to some backlog, started Danganronpa 2 a few days ago. Interesting blend of VN and Ace Attorney, enjoying it quite a bit so far.

Can't complain too much. Still working at Apple and doing fairly well; bought a house a couple of years ago. Been getting back into making stuff since I have a garage and by extension space to put a shop.

How about yourself?

Surprised to see everything still fairly active around here. Figured I'd start something new to say hey and catch up rather than derail an existing thread.

General Chat / Letter of Resignation
« on: August 30, 2011, 02:10:20 AM »
Given the tone and content of the reaction to my recent rule regarding the content of chat, it's become clear that the DL as a whole does not agree with my views on what is appropriate and inappropriate, and is not willing to change or doesn't care enough to make it an issue either way.

This is fine; you certainly have the right to hold a different view than I do.

By the same token, I have the right to hold my views. Since I find the current content of the chat unacceptable by those views, I choose to remove myself from it, and as I don't participate much with the site itself aside from hosting it, from the DL as a whole. Effective immediately, I will no longer be performing any type of administrative or programming work for the RPGDL.

In addition, the site as currently hosted will be shut down in two weeks. This is the same notice that would be expected by any employer; this should give the group time to find a replacement, who's welcome to contact me for site backups and domain transfer to new hosting - I'm not going to hold the site hostage, but neither am I going to continue running it out of simple inertia. If this two week period passes without a new web admin, the site will be taken down and backups made that will be provided when the new admin is ready to use them.

This is not something I intend to change my mind about; I've had ample time to consider this decision. While there will be people here that I'll miss, I have neither the time nor the energy to enforce a decision that it's clear the majority doesn't support.

I wish you the best.

General Chat / Re: IMPORTANT UPDATE: IRC Room

That is the case, yes. Most of that wouldn't have made me bat an eyelash. (aside from the first sentence, which was I think was your intent). And of course Trance's dick. <_<

Again: innuendo is fine, graphic language is not. This is not intended to be "you may never talk about sex again, ever." This is meant to be "don't be crass about it."

RULES UPDATE: The NSFW chatter in the main channel's been getting increasingly out of hand lately, so setting this down.

Please keep graphic sexual content out of the main channel going forward. Innuendo will generally be okay, but if it's getting into descriptions of body parts or things done with them it's not a good call. Feel free to knock yourselves out in PM or set up a separate channel for it if you really want to keep going with it, but with an increasing number of DLers coming into chat from work it's something that should probably be curtailed to cause them (including myself) less of a hassle with their employers.

Given that we've got folks worldwide as well, and variable work hours, there's no kind of time limitation on this; consider this to be in effect 24 hours a day.

If it's that Main Event place I'm not surprised; never been in there, though, so I didn't know it had bowling. I was figuring it for arcade + laser tag only.

Bowling summary time!

Texas is apparently not conducive to bowling.

Aaaaand since it seems this may be needed this time around, the lost and found post.

I currently have (that are not mine):

A set of Suikoden 3 manga
1 pair of Old Navy flipflops
1 USB controller

I also have Ciato's Simpsons water bottle and NEB's hat, just need to get an address and I can get those sent off. If you're missing anything not listed here, go ahead and post it and I'll have a look around for it.

DLcon 6 aftermath: Taking over/under bets on  Alex and Hal's sanity score

hahahahahahahaha it's not over
last vanload of people are supposed to go to the airport in about four hours.  figured I'd just stay up and do it early and then crash.
on the way home?  CHECK ENGINE LIGHT and strange shudderings in the van.
not risking taking that thing on an airport run, no sir.  thanking god it just made it home all right.
but sans van we can't fit the last group of people in one trip, so there has to be *another* run.
hahahahahahaha, haha, ha.

blarg i am ded.

guess I get to do another 3 hours of driving today, in that case.

Have not had time to get a map put together for local food/etc, but my address for those driving/anyone else that needs it:

Austin, TX 78717

PM me if you need my cell phone number.

Just wondering, is there any generalized plans in terms of what we are doing which days?

Not too much. Friday is pretty much "hang out, decompress from travel" day. Saturday will be when we do the FG tournament and the music quiz, probably also general running around for game stores/etc. Not sure when we'll get bowling going.

Yes it is. There's a branch of it (although not the one in the article) about a half mile from where your hotels are.

« on: June 12, 2011, 06:28:27 PM »
I can't speak to other states, but having had an alcohol seller's license in Texas (which you can get at 16, go figure), I can at least state that there at least used to be no minimum age for consumption of alcohol in Texas - kids could consume just fine if it was given to them by a parent or guardian. Dunno if this has changed in the last 10-15 years (it's been a long time since I worked as a cashier) but I wouldn't be surprised if it hasn't.

The only reason I'd see to bring an extra TV is if someone wants to hook up a gaming setup at the hotel.

I have the big 42" in the living room for a primary gaming station and a 24" in the computer room that we can hook up as a secondary station. If past DLcon activities hold I don't -think- we'll need more than two gaming setups but I'll leave that decision to you guys.

I don't think we'll need a second Wii. Mine is modded, so if you have games on a hard drive, just bring the drive and any extra controllers you need. PS2 and 360 would be useful though (my PS2 is not modded, so.)

SHOULD ONLY APPLY TO TODAY (hopefully): Lunarnet's in the middle of a botnet attack and the channel has been set to invite only. If you're unable to join #rpgdl, /msg Yukari-sama and I'll toss an invite.

That'd be fine (I know the place in question, it's right next to my credit union). Didn't actually check the prices for them as the name seemed to indicate they wouldn't be as open (or as inexpensive) for shorter durations.

I didn't check on it (someone might want to call and do this), but with as small a number of rooms as I suspect we'll be getting I tend to doubt it. Even with 20 people, if we're packing in 4 people per room that's only 5 rooms total.
