I also think Super cosplay is a fun card idea... however, that's not even possible in the current system/flavor Andrew has now... >.>;; Although, I'm sure it could be shoehorned in.

I really wasn't kidding when I said that this concept felt like a meta-meta-game. I mean, the basis is RPGs - games in and of themselves. And then you have the DL system, which is a kind of duelling game about games in general. And now you're positing a game about a hypothetical DL situation... It's just feels really removed.

And as for the idea of making the cards themselves... Sure, duelists and equipment stuff seems easy enough, but what kind of art would you use for the Voter cards?

I mean, I understand the appeal it would have for the DL members themselves to each have their own card or whatever - and that sounds amusing, perhaps we could still make those, but they don't have to be specifically Voter Cards. In fact, you could throw out the Voter card system altogether (or change it some other flavor - MP cards or whatnot) and still make cards of DL members who provide 'mana' or whatever.

To me, it just seems that instead of building a meta-meta-game out of a big joke concept, you could build a slightly-more-universal CCG system and make joke Cards for the same effect.

The nice thing is that this doesn't require you to change much of your actual current system - just some names and other flavor ideas.

Instead of a story about Aiel and other people taking over a website...

You could still use DL story flavor and say that Nate/Ghaleon/Myria/Morrie/Chisato/whoever is hosting a special Team DL season and that 4-man teams of 1 Godlike-Heavy-Middle-Light are competing for the mysterious 'grand prize'.

A team leader can change up his team's roster every match in their quest for the prize.

Instead of Vote Draw, call it Modification Power or something similar.

Worth is still essentially the same.

Trainwrecks are still massive failures and can cause your team to lose out even on the consolation prizes!! (Or however you want to play this)

Instead of Voter cards as Mana, just simply use MP... or even MP variants. There's enough different versions of MP out there that you could probably pull this off (SP, WP, JP, LP, STM, Fuel, GP, IP).
Or you could also use items here, since they would 'restore MP' or whatever. You could even have special Voter MP cards?

I'm pressed for time so I can't explain my thoughts as clearly as I wanted to when I started writing this PM, but hopefully you understand what I mean...

Mmm...personally, I'm excited about people, and not so excited about stuff like cards that talk about vote totals or nomination pools.  Edward equipping a Meeple Launcher is exciting because it's people mixed with people.

Put another way, if you were to make a board game about Magic The Gathering, you'd reference characters from the original game, maybe you'd reference some of the more charismatic designers ("Mark Rosewater is !@#$#$ insane" etc), but a square that says "you need to mulligan twice: go back two squares" is...kinda unexciting.  You're using the game mechanics of the source material as flavour for another game, and game mechanics don't make very good flavour.

It's more using DL website mechanics to structure the game mechanics, and DL lore and people for the game's flavor. The lore includes both the staff and dueller jokes and stuff.
