Bah, I liked Noir. Now, Madlax, that was garbage, but at least I got some good music out of it.

What's Blade of the Immortal, anyhow?

It's a seriously awesome, fairly gory action historical/fantasy manga. Noir's not bad, but the usual Bee Train style is pretty much the exact opposite of BoI.

Damn you whoever made the GU anime! May you perish in the eternal flames of whatever negative form of the afterlife you do or do not believe in!

Anyways, I borrowed DearS from my friend. So, uh, yeeeaaaaah. Has some funny stuff and some sexy stuff so it's all good.

Tru Getta Robo vs Neo Getta Robo-
Eh... having 7 different Getta forms and Texas Mack in just 4 episodes seems like most of them didn't really get enough screen time. Neo Getta in general needed more screen time because Tru Getta is ugly, and God Getta barely got a chance to do anything.
Fine enough in general, albiet overly deus ex machiny.

General update...

Banner of the Stars III- One of my favorite series gets a finale. Sadly, due to the story being compressed into two episodes, it's rushed and awkward. A far cry from the carefully slow, beautifully character-driven series I know and love. Still a satisfying end, though.

Kimagure Orange Road- Decided to start rewatching this. Man, I forgot how good Hikaru was in the beginning and how quickly she swandived into failure. Madoka love <3

rewatched some 12 Kingdoms.  Good stuff.  Episode 39, the final chapter of 'A Thousand Miles of Wind, The Sky at Dawn' is one of the coolest episodes for anything ever, though I do wish the story arc was a bit quicker getting there (typical book->movie pacing issues).

also rewatched some Mahou Tsukai Tai, which is exactly as I remember it.  A remarkably accurate portrayal of the many and various stupidities of teenage life.  Also, the dub is fantastic.

also watched the first 2 eps of Mnemozyne.  Good stuff, if a bit over the top with the S&M and whatnot.  Still, explicit sex and violence means the show can dispense with the 'accidental' panty shots and the falling on the girl and accidentally feeling her up and the rest of the adolescent ero-bullshit anime tends to wallow in.  No need for that crap when the characters are, y'know, actually getting some (the audience...not so much).  Plot?  Oh yeah, plot.  Immortal women do stuff.  Frequently violent and sexy stuff.  Good pacing.  Quite reminiscent of Speed Grapher.

Randomly rewatched episodes 33, 38 and 39 of Utena on Youtube. Still all kinds of awesome. I should probably rewatch the show sometime; it's been...three years, I think?

Good news: Blade of the Immortal is getting an anime! Sweet!

You have no idea how happy this makes me.  But I'll tell you.  A lot.

I read Blade of the Immortal before I ever watched anime or read manga otherwise.  I've been following it from its very beginning, back when I was a kid that liked to hang out in the local comic store.  Not only is this quite a nostalgia trip for me, the studio in question does do introspective stuff pretty decently, think Noir and .Hack//SIGN, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Heh, Mnemosyne, I heard from a bunch of people was actually good, but I wasn't sure whether to trust their judgments on it or not. I honestly don't know, what I'm saying coming from someone whose watched things like Kannazuki no Miko and... uh, the Disgaea animu. :|

I would say it's too early to tell, after only 2 episodes, whether or not it'll be that good.  It certainly shows promise.  Interesting characters, top-notch production values, great action.  There are indications that there will be significant time gaps between episodes, which could be very interesting plotwise, but there's no denying the show is unnecessarily oversexed, and it does get in the way to an extent.  Worth checking out, but not for the squeamish.

Nausicaa and the Valley of the Wind-
Started off slow, but got better fairly quickly. Went into it having no idea what to expect and found it to be considerably better than I was anticipating. The subtitling wasn't the best and cut out on occasion as well as having some bad english at times, which is a bit sad for a 'real' subtitling.

Laputa, The Castle in the Sky-
Storyline wasn't as good as Nausicaa's, but it was a great deal more amusing. I think I'd peg Nausicaa as just a tiny bit better overall. Had better expectations for this and it still beat them >_> The DVD wouldn't let me turn subtitles off for some reason, which was wierd.

The first ep of Druaga was a parody of jRPG's + IT WAS ALL A DREAM meme. :0 However, an alt episode 1 that was different from the ones on Bost/u2be/Crunchy was streamed on JP GyaO TV. D: ZOMG CONSPIRACY. LOOKS LIKE WE NEED FANSUBS AFTER ALL TO FANSUB THE ALT EPISODE! HURRRRRRRRRRR. (Seriously though, wut @ that. A friend bought access to BOST and he is a little emo q_q that the alt ep 1 is not available on there.)

Kure-nai- Wow, Sawashiro once again destroys the character she voiced. God, can she stop vocing for male characters now? They sounds gradually worse and worse. Oh well, skiping this, nothing to miss anyway.

Tower of Druaga- AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!! This is too good, haven't seen a gag this halarious for a long while. Yeah, i am sooo going to follow this. Hope the do the double episode thing every week.

Nabari no Ou- Felt a little awkward compare to the manga, but the yaoi is all there, so I guess it won't constitue a problem.

Code Geass- Yes, more train wreck.

Kurenai- The opening is alright, but once you watch the first episode and get to know the characters involved, it becomes hilarious and awesome. Show is decent enough that I'll follow, for all I agree with Niu on the voice of the main.

Bus Gamer- Should have figured from the character design that this was based on something the Saiyuki manga-ka did. But hey, there hasn't been a hardcore street fighting series in a while. It's not bad and only three eps, so I'll just turn my brain off and enjoy the violence for a bit.

Monster- Finally watching this, up to episode 24. It is awesome and good and yay. Dieter is leading the cast in awesomeness so far, and as good a character as he is I'm not liking Lunge too much. Eva's bitch face scares me. Tenma is... special. That's the only way I can put it, honestly. Almost Hunter-esqe for the Andys and the Alexs watching. But the show is gooooooooooooood.

Soul Eater- Decent so far, but the voice has problem. Maka gets a fitting voice but not very good acting. Soul gets decent acting but not a very good voice >.> But I'll digress, the art is still awsome and all that. Now I hope everything goes fine with Medusa when she appears....

Kurenai- The opening is alright, but once you watch the first episode and get to know the characters involved, it becomes hilarious and awesome.

The naiveity of those who hasn't read the novel, a good thing I guess.

Innocent Venus: Generic dystopian future nonsense. I am not sure why I watched it. It's not horrible...it just totally fails at being unique or memorable in any way that matters. Now, I approve of utilitarian, no-frills mech design, and the Big Sekrit behind said mechs is suitably warped, but that's about where my compliments end. Oh, it has an Homard clone, too. I guess that's something. No cats, though.

Rozen Maiden: Show of killer loligoth dolls is also a mediocrity. Nothing really outstanding about it and the lead whines as much as Shinji Ikari without actually having much reason to do so. I was glad when this one ended.

Scrapped Princess: Watched the first eight episodes or so. Generic fluff, but entertaining enough on that level. Cast is hit or miss--I wanted to punch Leo after about five seconds, Silencer is cool and I hope he shows up again (killer bard. Yes), Chris...well, failing to kill the hero when he could easily have done so in like the first episode is always a bad sign for an adversary. Also an angstwhore (c'mon, he didn't even know Winia; why would he unload his Troubled Past story on her? Stupid lazy writers and their expository dialogue). He has got a little better, though. So yeah, show is nothing special, but basically inoffensive. Of course, by all accounts, it turns to total drivel for the finale. But eh, I have to finish watching any series I start, and the ride there looks diverting enough for now.

Key the Metal Idol: Now, this one I like. Watched the first seven episodes, looking forward to the rest. We know the Cid is fond of AI characters, yes? AI character with an entire show devoted to her development? Even better. It also helps that I like Sakura, and the interaction between the two of them is made of win. I can't help but like the pop songs too. The end theme has that quaint, 80's soft rock feel that spilled over into the 90's in Japan because the Japanese just decided the whole grunge thing wasn't happening there for some reason. Must hunt down music on GH later. Also, while the "badass" archetype is never my kind of character, it has to be said that episodes 6/7 = D is one hardcore motherfucker. And Ajo is batshit in ways that scare even me.

The bard's man do come back in later arcs. Also Chris, he actually turn out quite different, he actually doesn't interact with the main cast all that much. Just to let you know, Scrapped Princess is somewhat compressed, so it isn't uncommon that sometimes things advance so quick. Hell, Browning Order got taken out entierly (Fine, didn't alter that much on the plot, but makes the final few battles less shiny).

Macross Frontier - First episode's not bad. The singer opening her concert with "Watashi no uta wo kike!" amuses me way more than it probably should.

Edit: Also, it cracks me up that Macross characters now just assume that idol singers can vanquish invading alien armies by singing at them.
