1. Highlight: Climbing Old Rag? Sure, that was fun. Lowlight: Dental surgery.

2. Favorite place... gosh. Skyline Drive's a good pick, let's go with that. Least favorite: Interstate 95, specifically between Richmond and DC. It needs fire. So, so so much fire. 30 miles of heavy traffic at 5am?!!? *PUNT*

3. I love football and yeah, excited. The Packers look to have a functional defense and offense this year!

4. I'm content with my job. I'm looking for new ones because I want to make more money.

2. What is your favorite place in the world? Your least favorite?  Varies, but Vancouver is pretty fucking up there.  I haven't seen enough to really have a least favourite.

1. Summer's just about over. What was your highlight? Your lowlight?
The birth of my son was basically the entire summer, highs and lows associated. It's been an amazing three months, but with a dash of depression mixed in at times.

2. What is your favorite place in the world? Your least favorite?
I love beaches and wish I could go more often. Probably Amelia Island. My least favorite place... the DMV or any similar organization where you have to wait forever on a dumb formality. Ugh.

4. Are you happy with your job? If not, are you looking for a new job?
First year teaching college freshmen; it's been fun, but stressful when combined with graduate studies. I'll be looking for a job to do with this degree soon.

5. What's the next book/movie/TV show you are looking forward to?
Looking forward to Stranger Things season 2, Star Wars 8, and not much else at the moment. I've been out of the loop, granted.

6. Final Fantasy Tactics came out 20 years ago. Did you play it when it first came out?
I played it a year later and was completely obsessed for several years. I can't even play it anymore because I burned out so hard, but make no mistake, I love the game, flaws and all.

7. The holidays are coming up soon. Anything special planned for them?
Figuring out how they're different with a baby around, that's a new special thing. Hoping people come to me instead of me having to travel.

8. Do you have any trips planned? If so, where are you going?
Nope.

9. What was the last video game you played?
Hm. I finished Persona 5 right before my son was born, which was great. Tried to finish Environmental Station Alpha, but got tired of it. Other than that, I'm just replaying really simple games since I can't really focus on anything right now.

10. Do you have a smartphone? If you do, do you use it all the time?
Yep. It's a must on campus for various reasons, and quite useful in various home contexts too.

11. What's your dream car?
One that never breaks

12. Do you have a favorite Halloween candy? Least favorite?
Reese's master race. Cups, Sticks, you name it. I'm not a fan of sour candies, though I loved them as a kid.

I have never tried it and don't want to because I hate pumpkin. (I also don't ever visit coffee shops; I prefer tea, and it has to be decent to high quality)

Skyfarer is out now and I'll be picking up my copy...in about a week! Looking forward to getting to read the finished results of one of Joe's big stories, considering he's been bouncing ideas for them off of me for years.

Yup. Even did the newbie stupid thing and forgot to make a second save file at Riovanes so I just died to Velius for ever and ever and had to restart.

Not really. Don't think I'm visiting any family this year.

8. Do you have any trips planned? If so, where are you going?
Heading up to visit a friend in WA in about a week to celebrate his first book release, actually!

Yakuza 0. I have fallen into the sidequest hell. Send help.

Yes, but I use my tablet more since I have bad eyesight and giant ham hands.

Jenna's been wanting a Tesla, but I doubt we'll be able to afford one pretty much ever. I don't drive, so whatever she wants really.

hmmmmmm. Smarties are pretty great, and the reeses hype is legitimate. Not a fan of tootsie rolls or anything licorice.

Depends. Good in baked goods(muffins, cookies, pumpkin spice cheesecake is solid), bad as a coffee flavoring. As a trend, I kinda wish it would scale back and let some other fall flavors or other uses for pumpkin besides "pumpkin spice" get a little bit of the spotlight.

Highlights: A lot of calm, peaceful time without people around, getting back into some writing. 
Lowlight: Read Good Morning and take a guess.

Fave: Anywhere safe and comfortable with modern conveniences and internet.  Vancouver was nice.
Least: Camping anywhere sandy.

The Cowboys' first game was a real killer!  (Tony wouldn't let that one pass and neither will I)  UT starts Saturday.  Fairly neutral on them this year.

Ish.  Gaining confidence, but progress is slow.

The new "It," but that just came out so uh hmm nothing specific on the radar at the moment.

Yes, thereabouts.  Had a big impact.

Siblings and parents were planning a camping trip, that's all up in the air still.  Me, probably nothing special.

Not right now.  I'd like to hit DLcon or do something next summer around that time, but we'll see.

Nope. The only football I watch is also called "soccer". Speaking of, World Cup '18 is coming up though...

See above. Sorta but the frequent job changes have made trying to get a new job a little discouraging. Just trying to tough it out at the moment.

I'm really looking forward to the next James Bond film since I really Craig-Bond and its likely his last one. SW8, sorta, but I dunno. R1 was good, but reading the synopsis of SW7 seems like they are just rehashing old ideas, so I don't have high expectations.

6. Final Fantasy Tactics came out 20 years ago. Did you play it when it first came out?
Sort of. I played it when it came out, dropped it for like 5 years, came back to it then and then finished it. Pretty damn good and still great today.

We're going back to visit family in Hong Kong, so there's that. I also plan on meeting my GF's parents since I'll be in Asia and planning to propose to her then.

Last new game I played was Tokyo Xanadu. Last game I played was Covenant. Still practicing this, but the route is just zzzzzzzz

Yes, sort of? I started using it a lot more since my significant other uses it all the time. Also, picked up FFBE which was been eating away at my layaway time.

Assuming, cost/maintenance is not a concern? Something like an Aston Martin. Otherwise, I'll take out that doesn't break down and functions for a good period of time (a Japanese car brand comes to mind).

Reeses are great, but I also love Twix and Kit Kats. All three are pretty great. Least favourite...well, I haven't actually had Candy Corn but I remember as a kid I was always disappointed with Rockets.

Dear god. We're old. Yes, enough to never play it again. It was absolute bliss.

Pumpkin spice is delicious. Unfortunately, it is such a strong ingredient that it can be easily abused. With finesse, it is all sorts of spaß.

I guess I'm just looking forward to whenever the next Monstress collection comes out (probably next year) because it is boss.

-No, I played it...2003? Sounds right. I've since played it a total of 6-7 times. It's a favorite.

-Last completed was Sonic Mania. It's fun if you're into that kind of thing. Last night I picked up an indie Metroidvania called Sundered. Good visual style but has some serious technical problems.

-I do! I resisted as long as I could, but the old flip phone was finally losing its battery, and I needed a functional phone for job interviews. I don't otherwise use it any more than I used my old phone, though (I.E., at all).

-Why don't we have flying cars yet? It's 2017. I was promised flying cars.

-I always liked the chewy gooey stuff most. Gummi bears, Twizzlers, that sort of thing. Least favorite would be when that one house in my neighborhood as a kid handed out religious pamphlets instead.

Highlight: wedding

2. What is your favorite place in the world? Your least favorite?

Favourite: Sure let's go with the Sunshine Coast
Least favourite: No locale really stands out in my memory as bad, so I'm tempted to go with something generic like border crossings. Lots of time where you can't relax and they're kinda stressful.

Moderate fan, game is on in the background right now. I don't really have a team.

Oathbringer. Among video games (since those weren't mentioned but c'mon, it's the DL), Fire Emblem Warriors for a game that's not out yet and Nier Automata for one that is I haven't yet started playing.

Yes, loved it, it's the reason I bought a Playstation. Still play it these days.

They... what? No, holidays just ended, what are you crazy non-teachers talking about. Anyway, would definitely like to take a trip somewhere warm and sunny during winter.

Currently playing XCOM 2, Undertale, and Fire Emblem Heroes.

Yes. No. It's a phone and can play FEH, that's about it.

A self-driving one. The two worst things about driving are the stress of it (in heavy traffic particularly, did some driving in Vancouver rush hour this summer and it is not fun) and the fact that you can't use your time for other things.

Favourite candy is almost anything sour. Nothing stands out in the other direction... I don't like desserts with huge amounts of that fake sugary jelly in them but that's not usually in halloween candies.

I'm a sucker for the MCU of course, and Thor: Ragnarok in particular looks real good.  I don't really follow the releases for TV or books at all.  Gamewise... well KHIII looks like it has a real release upcoming now, and of course XSeed can have my money at any time if they can get another Trails game out in English.

6. Final Fantasy Tactics came out 20 years ago. Did you play it when it first came out?

Technically.  I played it on a rental (because it's got the name of FFVII y'see, must be good!) but aside from a damaged disc making loading a dicey proposition, I then failed to realize how to add party members and couldn't win the first battle.  I played it for real in 2002 or so when it turned up as a Greatest Hit.  Still had a false start where I saved into a probably-unwinnable Weigraf fight, but by then DL so I plugged away at it a while.

Pffft.

I wish.

I played most of SOnic Mania this weekend, which is fine, but actually I spent most of my off days the past month playing Trails in the Sky The 3rd so that's probably the more honest answer.

Yar.  The realization that it had unlimited data and my main internet does not means it gets near-constant use for Youtube and the like.

Very happy.  The only thing I'd change would be the commute.  If that got cut in half, it would be brilliant.  As it is, it's busy, but I do like it.

Book: the next installment of the Star Carrier series.  Movie: Kingsman: The Golden Circle.  TV: Robot Chicken's new season (since Rick and Morty is already out).

I didn't, I played it...2 years later?  Right before I met the group back in 2002.  As much as I subjectively wasn't a huge fan, objectively the game is decent.  But you didn't hear me say that.

What holidays?  There is no holiday in academia.

Technically, Path of Exile.  If you're talking about new game, it would have been Persona 5.

Yes, and I do use it a ton - I prefer the tablet or laptop/desktop, but it gets used a lot for work, etc.

11. What's your dream car?
I love my Subaru Impreza, and I don't need anything fancier.

12. Do you have a favorite Halloween candy? Least favorite?
Take 5 is my new favourite.  Candy corn is the most disgusting thing on earth.

6. Final Fantasy Tactics came out 20 years ago. Did you play it when it first came out?
I didn't, I played it...2 years later?  Right before I met the group back in 2002.  As much as I subjectively wasn't a huge fan, objectively the game is decent.  But you didn't hear me say that.

1. Summer's just about over. What was your highlight? Your lowlight?
Highlight: starting the process of becoming a foster family (I don't think I've mentioned that here yet....so yeah, that's happening! I hope. Still early in the process.). Lowlight: Politics-related sleep deprivation.

2. What is your favorite place in the world? Your least favorite? 
Least favorite is the DC beltway at rush hour. Most favorite, I have no idea.

3. Football season is starting! Are you a fan/excited? How did your team do week 1?
Yes! And the Eagles beat Washington for the first time in a few years, so that's even better.

 4. Are you happy with your job? If not, are you looking for a new job? 
As happy as I can be reporting on politics in the age of mass insanity in which we currently live. I'm not looking to switch careers, though.

5. What's the next book/movie/TV show you are looking forward to? 
Book: I haven't read the end of NK Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy yet, so that.
Movie: Thor Ragnarok. Looks fun as hell.
TV show: The second season of The Good Place. New show would be American Gods.

6. Final Fantasy Tactics came out 20 years ago. Did you play it when it first came out?   
Not immediately, but I picked up a first-run copy on eBay shortly before the Greatest Hits version was announced.

7. The holidays are coming up soon. Anything special planned for them?   
The usual. Thanksgiving dinner at our house, weekend with family, and a leisurely Christmas.

8. Do you have any trips planned? If so, where are you going? 
Oklahoma in October, to see Donna's family.

Breath of the Wild.

Yes and yes.

Anything with road-worthy self-driving. If I never had to drive myself anywhere again, I'd be a happy man.

Candy bars, full-size or miniature. Nothing in particular stands out as least favorite; I only like candy corn in moderation, but I do like it.

Highlight: the Pet Shop Boys concert yesterday. Legends performing in your end of the woods, always a good time.

Lowlight: work-related anxiety crises.

Iunno, the only thing I've been even watching these days is old seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race.

I actually played it when they released it on JP and understood nothing. Then, they released it in NA and the rest is history. Been playing the game since I was 13, dear god.

Yeah, I have a vacation trip planned with the boyfriend to Uruguay. Fun times, haven't been to another South America country before.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. Been meaning to play Sonic Mania, but time's been short lately.
