Necron (FF9) Necron vs Orlandu, Cidolfas Orlandu, Cidolfas (FFT)

Dunefar
It is said the Holy Stones can react to the bearer's strongest desires.

Posessing both the Holy Stone 'Libra' and a copy of Final Fantasy 9, the natural desire to eradicate Necron and stop one last lame plot hole manifested itself in Orlandu's heart.

One nifty cutscene later, Necron was now a hopping rabbit with permanent Don't Act. The world rejoiced, and a single Stasis Sword ended things for good.

Necron: 15
Orlandu, Cidolfas: 16

Chipstick85
Comments:Orlandu = PC

Necron > PC

Shale
Orlandu's used to being the fastest blade in Ivalice. So it's going to be a bit of a shock for him when Necron gets the first move in their fight. It'll be more of a shock when Blue Shockwave does its job.

But, of course, the real shock comes when the Thundaga follow-up topples the Thunder God like a sapling. After all, automatic Haste is nothing when the enemy inspires the phrase "quadra-turn".

Murphix
Necron, the embodiment of pain, suffering and death, versus Orlandu, the Holy Swordsman. Let's look at the facts. Necron has well 50,000 HP. Orlandu's game max HP could only 999. Necron's basic attack deals at 1,500 damaage per attack. Even if Orlandu gets the first attack with Holy Explosion, it only did about 800 damage per hit.
Now if his stats are raised in proportion to characters in FFIX, we're still talking about a final boss versus one PC. Its a matter of statistics.

Asgard (WA3) Asgard vs Miguel Miguel (CC)

Strago
The sun slowly set over the open-air Arena, bathing the entire stadium in a warm orange glow as the Divine Fortress of Filgaia faced off with the Divine Fisherman of Arni. The tension was thick enough to be cut with a knife as Asgard's generators started to gently hum, and Miguel's lips moved rapidly in preparation of a spell. With a flash of white light and a mechanized *click*whirr* they were upon eachother, Holy Dragon Sword meeting the Golem's impenetrable barrier, shattering the wall of energy just before the sorcerous blade swung around in its second arc. Before the warrior-mage could recover, though, the great steel fist of Asgard would come down upon him, bringing him closer to his knees with every blow. For some time it continued in this fashion, both combatants wearing down to the breaking point, until finally it happened: the valiant Miguel took a blow to the chest strong enough to kill any lesser man instantly, and Asgard loomed over his barely-conscious body.

"Yield... stop..." he struggled to say to his chrome conqueror.

"I'm afraid," came the response as a great steel foot was slowly raised, "that I can't do that, Dave."

Asgard: 10
Miguel: 6

Loki (VP1) Loki vs Rose Rose (LoD)

El Cideon
Loki vs. Rose. Dragon Orb vs. Dragon Buster. One word aptly sums up the result of this not-quite-epic match:

*SPLAT*

The words "Writhe in Pain" were still ringing in the dark dragoon's ears as Dart and company dragged her to DL infirmary.

Loki: 22
Rose: 3

Shale
To Rose's credit, she's not limited to physical attacks - she can summon the Dark Dragon to penetrate Loki's legendary defense, making him work for his victory if nothing else. And it will indeed be "nothing else."

Meeplelard
Loki was furious. If he heard the words "Astral Drain!" one more time, he would kill someone who was not Rose. He knew winning this match normally wasn't going to happen, since his patience was driving thin. He couldn't stand this transforming Female swordsman.

Then he came up with an idea. Kill, female Swordsman...maybe he could win this match out of a random technicality?

Surveying the Arena, he noticed two familiar female faces sitting at different areas of the arena, both with certain male friend. This was too good to be true, he thought. It was just too easy.

"Demon's dance!"

"OUCH! I wasn't ready!"

"we're in the middle of a battle, I don't have to show you any remorse"

She was right, he had to make this look like an accident though. "Writhe in Pain!" he yelled, followed by a "Ah ha ha ha ha!" firing 2 Extension Forces, both marginally missing Rose.

"What kind of aim was that?"

"Oh, you weren't my target, my fair Dragoon..."

Rose look behind. Where once General Leo and Lucian were sitting was no a pile of smoldering ruins. Rose was confounded at why he did that...

Loki was smiling, seemingly waiting for something. What was it? Just then, a Giant Spear and big blue orb appeared out of nowhere, followed by Lenneth Valkyire, Glance Reviver and all, and Terra Branford (in Esper form), both completely enraged, tackling the Trickster god, beating the snot out of him.

Nobody understood the point of this, I mean, why would Loki do something that would get himself killed?

It was then the announcer spoke "And winner by Disqualification from Inteference...Loki!"

Rose cursed to herself for not realizing the plan sooner, though, she did admit it was fun Loki getting the crap kicked out him again, by his two most hated females, even if it did cost her the match.

Dark Holy Elf
Rose has ten shots of Astral Drain, her parasitic healing attack. Loki's Indiscriminate, on the other hand, is only four shots.

... Per turn. Sorry, Rose.

DragoonJay
Rose doesn't like being hit repeatedly, even if it's with magic. She gets ready to use Astral Drain only to find herself with a negative HP value

Genevieve (VP1) Genevieve vs Melfice Melfice (G2)

Shale
Genevieve's magic power is extremely impressive, and it will make short work of Melfice's sword. Of course, that's the cue for him to open up with Wailing Soul Slash. And coincidentally, that's what it's going to do to Genevieve's head.

Genevieve: 8
Melfice: 11

DragoonJay
Genevieve is consistant in her power. She doesn't get stronger as time goes on, but she can access her healing if she lasts long enough.

Melfice just keeps on getting stronger and stronger as the battle progresses. Even if Genny gets to the healing plateau, Melfice will continue to knock down her HP. Match to the horny guy.

Meeplelard
"Here's my ultimate attack! The Wailing Soul Slash!" Melfice cried, slaming his sword in his usual fashion at Genenieve, who went reeling back a bit in pain "Did you really think you can beat me?" he shouted.

"Hmmph. Heal!" she shouted, healing from the wound as if it were nothing "You'll have to do better than that, I'm afraid, you filthy creature."

"What the...grrr..." it was clear Melfice was losing his patience. He had hit Genenieve with everything he had. Quake, Demon Horde Slash, even a Wow! + Wailing Soul Slash combo. Nothing worked. And he knew he was going to eat another indiscriminate, of which he was going to have to heal from...until he thought of something.

He wondered what would happen if he said a few words, that no one outside of Valkyrie Profile dare say. He wondered why nobody tried it either. It was a risky move, but it might just work.

"Hey, Hooded Sorcerress, can you at least let me say a last few words before I give up?" he shouted.

"Oh, fine, make it quick" she was getting ready to fire off another indiscriminate.

Taking a deep breath, he shouted If ye trust that thy eternal bonds may be broken! Then let my words be a vengeful blade upon thee! Cosmic Spear!

Genenieve winced. What did he try to do? Mimic her own spell? He had to be joking. Such a trick obviously wouldn't work...

Melfice was about to curse as his plan failed...til he looked up and noticed a giant Spear coming down at sonic boom speed right into thier general direction.

Using his phenomonal speed, he jumped out of the way of the spear, Genenieve, who had her back turned, only managed to see the spear the second before it hit her.

Melfice walked to the impaled corpse, shrugged, and claimed his victory, wondering why other mages haven't tried quoting Valkyrie Profile Great magics before...

Rolf Landale (PS2) Rolf Landale vs Cloud Strife Cloud Strife (FF7)

Meeplelard
This is Cloud. *A picture of Cloud is shown*.
This is Cloud after being hit with Megid. *Picture of Jogurt is shown*
Any questions?

Rolf Landale: 16
Cloud Strife: 7

Tylor H
Let's briefly compare the two fighters, shall we?

Past Occupation:
Cloud: Soldier of the local government.
Rolf: Agent of the local government.

Current Crisis:
Cloud: Evil force from the heavens trying to destroy his home planet.
Rolf: Evil force from the heavens trying to destroy his solar system, and partially succeeding.

Personal Crisis:
Cloud: Hometown gone and good friend killed by hero.
Rolf: Homeworld turns on him and good friend killed by her evil twin.

How They Deal With It All:
Cloud: Goes crazy and convinces himself he lived the life his good buddy did. After finally getting noggin back in order, has uncrontrollable urge to mosey towards final boss.
Rolf: Flips out, becomes stupidly powerful and smites evil stuff.

And so, Rolf will win this match because he faces worse in his life, deals with it better, and flips out instead of moseying.

Shale
Rolf's finest magic trick: from Cloud Strife to a cloud of red mist in two turns and one Megid.

Chipstick85
Clouds limits win him this.

Jenny
Give me a break. Megid does more damage than any PC can possibly take. Cloud's about to visit 7th Heaven.

Lede (FFT) Lede vs Wren Wren (PS4)

Shale
Like most FFT bosses, Lede doesn't have much more HP than the PCs she fights, instead trading durability (the traditional standby of bosses the world over) for power.
By contrast, Wren is high-power and highly resistant to damage. Positron Bolt claims another victim tonight.

Lede: 12
Wren: 17

Murphix
While he may be immune to status ailments, Wren still has a shadow! This should be considered in the fight.

Eternalspirit
Lede and Wren were muscling it out, each equalling the other shot for shot. All seemed to be at a standstill, until the word "Recover!" was heard. And that was the end of that.

Malik Benedict (WA3) Malik Benedict vs Lin Lin (BoF5)

superaielman
The only thing sadder than Malik's offense is no offense. As Lin can't even -hit- him...

Malik Benedict: 10
Lin: 5

Ramladu (SF1) Ramladu vs Arngrim Arngrim (VPs)

Dark Holy Elf
Ramladu was shocked. Arngrim had... survived his devastating mace attack. That was very unusual. He couldn't recall the last time it had even happened.

Shrugging, Ramladu hit Arngrim a second time, causing the mercenary to crumple under the brutal smash of the king's mace. A freak occurence, the king decided, as he moved on to the semi-finals to meet his next opponent.

Ramladu: 12
Arngrim: 9

Kanos
Ramladu can suck up Max physicals like water. I don't think that Arngrim can OHKO him, even with Final Blast, and with Ramladu's regeneration, that spells the end of the arrogant Einherjar.

Izlude Tingel (FFT) Izlude Tingel vs Umaro Umaro (FF6)

Murphix
Even if Umaro starts with his Ice Storm attack, Izlude will confuse him heavily by jumping out of sight. As Umaro scratches his head, thinking he won as the enemy has dissappeared, Izlude lands on top of him. As Umaro starts swinging his axe, Izlude jumps again, and again Umaro, being as stupid as he is, thinks he wins. Izlude lands, Umaro rages, Izlude jumps, Umaro confused. Repeat until Umaro falls.

Izlude Tingel: 24
Umaro: 7

Dark Holy Elf
Izlude uses Armour Break, destroying Umaro's Snow Muffler. Simple course of action, right? Sadly, Umaro's Snow Muffler doubles as his skin.

What followed wasn't exactly pretty, and certainly isn't appropriate for description to our younger readers, but in the end, it meant Izlude was finally moving on to the semi-finals after two previous failures.

Shale
What threat does an unarmored, berserked sasquatch, bereft of his best friend and projectile, pose to a trained knight of Ivalice?
Good question.

superaielman
:Izlude takes to the air with his trademark jump.
Umaro takes to the jumping target with his bone club.
Long story short, the arena has a new wall hanging, and Umaro gets an easy win.

Meeplelard
Umaro went charging, as usual, running at Full Speed. Izlude Sighed, jumped, and Umaro continued to run...clear out of the arena. And thus, Izlude wins yet another match against an subpar intelligence opponent who uses his head...in the wrong way...

Vaynard (Brig) Vaynard vs Cristo Cristo (DW4)

superaielman
Cristo has the defenses, spells, and tactics to overcome the White Wolf. With his Sacred Robe making elemental damage a joke, and Upper turning his physical defense into that of a god, there's nothing the Highlander can do to sto- wait, wrong White Wolf. Anyway, Beat, Healall, Upper. Death to Vaynard.

Vaynard: 4
Cristo: 10

Tylor H
Cristo can null physical damage with his Upper spell and heal for hours with his massive supply of MP. Vaynard has enough MP for six uses of Frost at most, and then he's unable to harm the chancellor. I'll let you draw your own conclusions.

Marivel Armitage (WA2) Marivel Armitage vs Lucca Ashtear Lucca Ashtear (CT)

DragoonJay
The jeering prisoners rattle their bars as the procession marches down the hallway. The unlucky soul, with arms tied, walks silently. With a defeated spirit, she kneels down and places her head below the worn blade that will soon come down... Lucca woke up with a start, subconsciously clutching her neck. It had been just like the scene she entered to save Crono, except with her. "I can't do this, I can't fight in this condition. I need help." And outside the inventor's house, a silent figure let her hair flow in the night air. "That's why we're called night creatures, child," said Marivel.

Marivel Armitage: 11
Lucca Ashtear: 9

Nina Wyndia (BoF4) Nina Wyndia vs Balk Fenzol Balk Fenzol (FFT)

DragoonJay
Maybe it's just me, but I'm getting the mental image of Balk trying to hit Nina, constantly missing, then getting blown away by Typhoon. Then from the side of the arena, a dog stands up and laughs in an 8-bit way.

Nina Wyndia: 19
Balk Fenzol: 6

Murphix
In a balsy first move, Balk pulls off a successful Arm Aim attack, then moves for higher ground, trying to get out of Nina's range. After a couple of snipe shots, he hopes he's far enough away to prevent her magic from reaching, and goes for a Leg Aim, which fails. At this point, Nina launches a few well placed Typhoons, of which Balk dodges one, and victory goes to her.

Meeplelard
"I have become 'human' I am fully evolved and am perfect now!" Balk said.

"...I have wings, I can fly!"

Balk couldn't think of a come back, and went crying realizing he was, indeed, not perfect...

Katt (BoF2) Katt vs Nina Wyndia Nina Wyndia (BoF2)

Meeplelard
The two BoF2 Girls entered the ring. One was the passive exiled princess of Wyndia, the other was the aggressive woren gladiator. They were friends on the battle field, but rivals for the heart of Ryu Bateson.

"Katt, can't we do this in some more civilized way? I mean, I really can't hurt my friend".

"What? Fighting's not civilized? Its all I know how to do though!".

"But, Katt, can't we just talk this over? I mean...".

The Bell Rang, Nina realize dthat reasoning with Katt...is just something you can't do. Thus, Katt came charging out....

"Take this Nina! YAAAAH!" and attempted to smack Nina with her MeowST...only for Nina to make a quick leap in Mid Air, and fly out of the way..

"Hey! That's not fair! I can't fly!".

"I told you, I don't want to hurt you, Katt...".

"oh well, I'll just have to knock you out of the air then. Hail!" Katt screamed "Remember, Nina, Cats are higher on the food chain than Birds are...or something like that...".

Nina sighed, and went airborne again. Katt tried to cast another hail...and failed. The match obviously going to take a while, despite both characters normally dying fast with having high damage at the same time. so the Ref's allowed them both one ally..

"Hm...who could be useful to me...I know! Sten! Get over here you stupid monkey!".

"Yes, Katt, your humble servant is here...".

"Blast Nina out of the sky for me now, so I can bash her brains in!".

"But...I can't hurt Nina...".

"If you do, I'll...er...promise to have Dinner with you...".

Sten blinked. "Aye aye Katt!" STen yelled, and fired a spark at Nina..

"What the! I said BLAST HER! Not give her a love tap!".

"Katt, its called strategy please. See, if I use my Missile or Fireball spell, I'll run out of gas, and besides, look, she's coming down".

Nina was indeed coming down, sten had burnt her wing, and she was in minor Pain. However, Nina was now starting to realize fighting was the only way out...but she herself had a trick up her sleeve..

"Alright, Nina, in the words of...uuhh...well...darn it, Blah Blah Blah Blah!".

"Oh, very threatening" Sten said..

"Shut Up, Sten! And help me pulverise Nina!".

"Yes ma'am!".

The two charged at Nina, just as she yelled "Mina, my young sister, I need you!" and like that, a Giant Pink Bird came out nowhere, crushing Sten with its Talon, while almost getting Katt who barely jumped out of the way..

"Hey! That's not fair! You can't summon the Great Bird to help you!".

"How is it different from bribing that lecherous Highlander to help you...".

"Damn it! Stop asking so many hard questions!".

"Get...off...me...Mina..." Sten mumbled underneath Mina's large foot..

"That's it, Nina! You asked for it! Sana, Shin! 1, 2, 3 Fusion!" katt said, jumping in mid air, being covered with Rainbow light, turning into her devil cat form. "Any last requests before I start beating you down? And don't try claiming this is illegal either...".

"None, except...".

"except what?".

"Except...Seny, Spoo! Please aid me!" Nina yelled, flying in mid air, and coming back down in an angelic form..

"Damn it! I should have seen that coming!".

"Now, do YOU have any last requests before I blast?".

"Is that you talking, or the Shamans, Nina? I doubt you have the GUTS to blast me!".

"Your right, I don't...BANISH!" Shamanized Nina yelled, adn with that, Katt was teleported 10 feet backwards...which happens to be right outside the arena, and thus, out of bounds, giving Nina the Victory..

"Damn it! I lost!" Katt yelled, unfusing herself..

Nina unfused as well, flew over to Katt and said "Are you alright? I didn't mean to hurt you...".

"Damn it! How did I lose to such a softy like you?".

"Hmm...this was a mangifique Match" Jean said, who for god knows what reason, was standing right behind them, along with the other BoF2 characters not named sten, who is still currently crushed by the large talons of Mina..

"What do you mean? I lost damn it! And Nina hardly fought!".

Rand smiled and said "didn't you realize Katt? Nina not only won the fight, but she managed to beat you without actually ever doing any direct attacks. Not everything can be solved with force alone...".

"Well, this was a match for the ages, it'd be interesting to see what that little onion from our sequel has to say about this..." Spar said twirling his whip..

With that, Nina went to the get the after game interviews, and Katt, well, lets say she started to study a lot more about strategies in Warfare, and attempting to learn how exactly Brains > Brawns..

Everyone left...forgetting that Sten was still in the clutches of the Great Bird's grasp, how he escaped, however, is another tale altogether.

Katt: 8
Nina Wyndia: 20

Tylor H
Although she's the strong and fast type, the only advantage Katt brings into this battle is speed, as Nina's magic will do more damage. However, even that doesn't matter, as Katt won't be able to kill in a blow, and Nina's accurate Death spell will.

Eternalspirit
"So, has it really come to this Katt? You'll fight me just to win Ryu?" "Yeah, that's right, and believe me, youll be sorry this match ever happened!" "Fine.." A Death spell later, and Nina was planning an evening with Ryu, while Katt was recovering in the BoF2 infirmary.

Genocide Heart
Nina can certainly beat Katt's PC form.

Of course, Katt's Boss form has Taunt. Taunt causes the victim to often go physical. Nina's physical is... laughable.

And Katt counters on a successful Taunt.

OUCH. Sleep well, Nina.

Banon (FF6) Banon vs MOMO MOMO (XS)

Dark Holy Elf
Of all the most embarassing ways to go, Banon's this week takes the cake. MOMO uses her magical girl powerup and beats the old man to death with her teensy little wand.

Banon: 8
MOMO: 18

Chipstick85
I allow 1 storebought accessory so Banon = no confuse...

Shale
There aren't many people MOMO can outslug. But even she doesn't fear Mr. "I've got a Punisher!" Banon.

What's there to say? Guilty Break>Elimante Scanner. Even a VP archer can easily outslug a scrub like Melody.

Janus: 11

Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus (WA2) Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus vs Grey Grey (VP1)

metroid composite
"Lemia, twas you who saved me. I will not forget," said Grey as he entered the arena.

Vinsfield began laughing maniarchally and unleashing his dark magic. Wave after pulsating wave hurtled towards the empty suit of armor, obscuring the foe in a cloud of dust and arcs of plasmic current. The ref stood ready to raise the flag of victory, when there came a cry.

"I will not die."
"What!? But...but..." Vinsfield said as he jumped to face his foe, but not quickly enough.
"I invoke the power of the glacial blade!
finishing strike!
ICICLE DISASTER!!!"
"Urgh..."
"My blade was too swift for you." Grey quite correctly remarked as he strolled out of the arena, one step closer to a Light championship.

Vinsfeld Rhadamanthus: 11
Grey: 12

What's in a Name?
The Suikoden 3 characters fight to be stars of Destiny

~Sir Alex

metroid composite
You know, the Screw Attack kills all but five enemies in Super Metroid instantly, and those five it can not kill, so it's safe to assume that it acts like instant death. Samus is also essentially invincible while Screw Attack/Space Jumping, so that kills everyone but Sarah, Gau, and possibly Rico.

For the three remaining scraps, remember that Samus has unavoidable massive multitarget through Power Bombs, which she can also use to simultaneously fully heal herself through the Crystal Flash technique. She also has massive damage through Hyper Beam should she need it for some reason, and the ability to travel through time using a glitch beam....

The moral of this story is: learn from the Mother Brain's mistakes; don't get Samus involved!

Usurpers: 9
Stars of Destiny: 7
Samus: 11

Tylor H
Nobody ever noticed the small orange ball sitting off to the side of the brawl. And, having waited until both sides were sufficiently weakened, nobody was in a state to notice after Samus had rolled into the middle of the fight and unleashed a couple of Power Bombs either.

Kanos
And Samus Aran is the greatest bounty-hunter in the galaxy. Of course she's going to beat the crap out of everyone she's up against.
