Week 4 - Quarterfinals

Fou-Lu (BoF4) Fou-Lu vs Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde (WA)

Bardiche
One of these is a Dragon Emperor, founder of the Fou Empire, where summoners with demons, eldritch creatures and magical assailants are commonplace.

The other is a Queen that came upon her Kingdom by the death of her father. It is a seriously small Kingdom that suffered from a glaring vulnerability to demons.

All of this has no relevance whatsoever to Behemoth Fou-Lu simply stomping on Cecilia and flattening her like a pancake.

Fou-Lu: 35
Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde: 5

Kyogre (PKMN) Kyogre vs Mewtwo Mewtwo (PKMN)

Paltheos
A showdown between two magical tanks, but unfortunately for Kyogre, Mewtwo gets the drop on him at every corner. Mewtwo is faster, his boosting move works twice as quickly, his recovery move is better in this fast-paced fight, and RBY mechanics give him extra insurance in sealing the deal.

Kyogre could try to freeze Mewtwo with Ice Beam and instantly win the fight, or Body Slam-para and Sheer Cold to OHKO him, but he's getting in at most 3 moves. It's much more likely that Mewtwo will have pounded him into the ground by then.

Kyogre: 7
Mewtwo: 46

Barubary
Pokemon trainer #1: Mewtwo use Amnesia.

Mewtwo nodded and a question mark randomly appeared over his head and began to sway back and forth. Before mewtwo's stats were buffed to the uber degree.

Pokemon trainer #2: Yeah well Kyogre use rain dance.

Kyogre began to sway in the water. All around them it began to rain. Kyogre could feel his water powers increase a 100 fold. However pokemon trainer #1 smiled.

Pokemon trainer #1: Heheheheh Mewtwo use Thunder!

Mewtwo nodded and a massive bolt of lightning struck kyogre. Turning poor Kyogre into well cooked whale meat.

Thats right kids Mewtwo can learn electric attacks. Kyogre a noted water type... gets a super effective to the face.

Maya Amano (Pers2) Maya Amano vs Billy Lee Black Billy Lee Black (XG)

Gatewalker
Ulala gave her friend an odd look as they waited in the airport, "So let me get this straight. You agreed to forfeit the match?"

Maya nodded.

"Because Billy said he could get you an exclusive interview with the Pope?"

Maya nodded again.

"Okay, so what exactly are you going to interview the Pope about?"

Maya just smiled and held up her limited edition Star Wars DVDs.

Ulala was silent a moment before just giving a deep sigh, "I think you've been hanging out in that loony bin a little too long, Maya."

Maya Amano: 12
Billy Lee Black: 18

Kanon (WA2) Kanon vs Alys Brangwin Alys Brangwin (PS4)

SageAcrin
Kanon smirked at her opponent, and one-shotted her.

It was just that simple. One moment, Kanon was still, another she was pulling back her fist, and then...done.

As Alys sailed over the crowd gracefully before exploding in the sky, Kanon's words could be heard clearly.

"Eagle Claw, Falcon Punch...close enough to understand."

Unfortunately, Kanon has sealed off her newest technique, due to it being entirely too silly.

Kanon: 22
Alys Brangwin: 17

Max (SF1) Max vs Wiegraf Folles Wiegraf Folles (FFT)

Gatewalker
Wiegraf in a one on one duel with an SRPG main character. We all know how this ends, right?

"Scatter frozen blades of air! Clops!"

As Max died horribly from the summon, Yuri groaned and smacked his head on the judge's table, "Dammit Wiegraf, you already lost and you KNOW that form's not legal here!"

"Er..." Velius sheepishly scratched his head at Yuri's rebuke, "Sorry, force of habit."

Max: 26
Wiegraf Folles: 17

Lyon (FE8) Lyon vs Margarete Zelle Margarete Zelle (SH1)

SageAcrin

How does a dark mage defeat a hero?

He doesn't.

He doesn't have to, either.

No matter how Margie tried, she simply couldn't leave enough of a dent in Lyon. Shooting him...shooting him more....shooting him still more, really, Margie's not into variety, but the point is, nothing she did phased him.

And so, when Lyon approached her, smiling, she panicked and wailed on the trigger.

Lyon, calmly, grabbed the rifle and yanked downwards.

Margie forfeited.

I mean, if you literally can't get through a battle without shooting yourself in the foot, you just need to take a break for a bit.

Lyon: 29
Margarete Zelle: 12

Aisha (OB) Aisha vs Thomas Thomas (S3)

Gatewalker
Neither Aisha nor Thomas are the sorts to mess around or engage in wacky hijinks. A straightforward fight, Aisha's ankh strikes giving way to Thomas's surprisingly solid swordsmanship and both combatants being gracious and sportsmanlike in the aftermath. And soon after the match, a few sisters from the Roshian Temple were found at Budehuc Castle scoping out a good spot to build a church.

Hey, just because they didn't engage in any hijinks doesn't mean they didn't stake a small wager on the fight.

Of course Aisha was a bit surprised that what Thomas wanted if he won was for her to send someone to build a church at his castle, but she wasn't about to turn down an invitation to spread the faith. Let's just ignore the fact that this being a win/win situation for her possibly had something to do with her managing to be a gracious loser right before the finals, hm?

Aisha: 6
Thomas: 27

Black Wizard (FF1) Black Wizard vs Chiepoo Chiepoo (S4)

Tylor H
Cost of Ritual Components: 66,600 Gil
Cost of Ritual Completion: One 'slightly' tarnished soul.
Cost of Taking Over Hell Itself: 5 x 10 to the 13 HL, and several only theoretically existing 9th level spell charges.

The satisfaction of crushing a naive catperson while wearing the infernal splendor of the Dark Overlord and Hell, and crushing him with your blasphemous omnipotence?

Priceless.

Of course, one of the rules of reality seems to be things never work out for Black Mage. And, while killing himself went off without a hitch, and even his attempts at conquoring all the realms infernal also proved surprisingly effective. And he even managed one hell of an entrance what with the ground ripping open that he might ride forth in his bone chariot pulled by raging hellsteeds whilst a chorus of the damned carried an ominous latin chant in the background.

Of course, he hadn't realised that the DL was a particularily bad place for an omnipotent demonic overlord to pop up, given that the whole place was filled practically to the brim with those pesky goody two shoes heroic types who specialised in killing dark gods. And they were all there, bored out of their minds looking for something interesting to do while waiting for the 'real' fights to start.

There were some who said that the resulting beatdown was clearly an instance of interference. Others said that clearly the judges were biased, after all, the heroic ones wouldn't want BM rewarded, and the villainous ones unlikely to want the competition.

But all the official report ever said was, "Most entertaining Light fight ever."

Black Wizard: 30
Chiepoo: 19
