Season 17, Week 3
Nash Latkje
(Suikoden III)

It's never a pleasant thing to have to do, but Nash is no stranger to beating up women to achieve his goals. Mixing up his arsenal of speed, status-restoring healing magic and strong, long-ranged hits, he should be able to take down this magical fist-fighter in short work. Critical hits should help blow past Purim's own healing, especially coupled with a follow-up from his Continual attack. And if all else fails, Nash is an incredibly charming fighter. A charm assault is his last option, but for this Secret Agent Man, a very effective tool to use to prove how grossly misranked he was in the first place.

After a horrendous first showing many seasons ago, Heavy's second-most resourceful mage returns, ironically, in the same season her only competition starts her newest run. It's Purim's goal to face Cecilia in battle, and to do that, she must face and defeat last season's Middle champion. Unfortunately, Nash has one thing she fears: the dreaded Silent Lake.Unfortunately for Nash, Silent Lake isn't the fastest spell in the world; While Nash is charging his "trump card", Purim will have already set him on fire, lighting the way for her continued battle to the top of the pack.

I think this match sums up the true spirit of the Role-Playing Game Duelling League.

No matter how successful and charming... no matter how well-balanced a warrior... how intelligent a person you are... no matter how much strength you have in plot or how many fans you have...

...you can always be set on fire by a doofy spoiled girl in harem pants.

And lose because you can't struggle out of the constricting fire as she punches you unconcious. Even though this makes no real sense.

And if you don't think that's the true spirit of the Duelling League, you haven't been paying enough attention.

Purim walked into the arena happy about her latest achievement, a win! She couldn't help but have a huge smile on her face. Her smile quickly turned into curiosity when she saw what was laying in the center of the arena, a pot. Like a giddy school girl she ran around the huge object and inspected it. Around the other side of the pot, leaning against it, was Nash. A cool, calm collected expression is what greeted the girl. Her eyes, filled with wonder. Began to question Nash.

"Mister, what is this thing doing here?"

Nash, slowly lifted himself from his leaning position and looked at the pot. "Oh this, why little lady this is.."

"OMIGOSH it is soooo huge! Purim said as she began to run around the pot like a maniac.

"........uhh yeah. But anyways This pot was put here becau..."

She once again cut him off. "Wonder what could be inside such a big things!!"

Nash's hand slowly covered his face. "well aren't you a curious one........."

"Yep!"

".....right..." *whispers* but I had this whole ingenious plan devised to get this girl in this thing. *sigh* "Tell ya what lil lady. I will give you a lift and let you have a look'si so you can quench your curiosity."

Her eyes lit up. "You would do that for me!!!"

"Seems that way, but really this shouldn't be so easy."

It was obvious she wasn't paying attention to him anymore. "It's so big!!!!" She turned to him quickly with a look of concern in her expression. "Hey......."

"Yes?"

"Who are you again?"

"..........."

"......?"

"Just get in the damn pot."

"Okeeeee"

There was a loud splash, and as the tears dried up from Nash's face, two little Goblins ran up to him. Nash bent down and paid them off as they took to boiling pot away, with the simple minded girl in it. The time, effort, and money spent on this plan made Nash a very sad winner as he realized he could have probably won by giving her the wrong directions to the arena.
