Season 17, Week 3
Kary
(Final Fantasy)

The Original Fiend of Fire has started to emerge from the shadow of her successor, and this week is a golden opportunity to stand out admirably. While many fire demons flee before Cecilia's magic-cancelling Holy Parasol, Kary has no reason to care. It's her physical might that will win the day, and all Cecilia's tricks will amount to nothing as Kary cuts through the mage in a single string of blows. Indeed, Kary's victory is practically assured, as is a triumph for all demon-kind.

After beating a sword-swinging Final Fantasy hero, the princess of Adlehyde now faces...a sword-swinging Final Fantasy villain! And like most of Cecilia’s duels, this one will be decided on the first turn. Fortunately, while Kary is strong, only the weakest of fighters would fall to her in one blow, and Cecilia is not in that group. Once she survives the initial blows, a single casting of Hide (or Dummy Doll) will end Kary's physical assault while the ever-present Holy Parasol ensures that the six-armed demon's other tricks won't come into play. Most duelers fear the Fiend of Fire, but for the innocent one, she is just a speed bump on her path to Godlike.

The silence around the ring was deafening as tension filled the entire arena with its presence. The two duelers watched each other cautiously, and the audience watched with them. No one moved or uttered a sound, not man, woman, or child, as the long debated match slowly reached its climax.

This was it. The victor of this battle will be decided with the next move. Both are now weary after the long, grueling duel, and neither will be able to survive the others attack. A free ticket to the finals, as well as an upgrade to Godlike hinges on what happens next and neither was willing those up without a fight.

For a long time, they just stood there, doing nothing except glare at each other. Dark clouds covered the sky, covering the arena in a cloak of darkness, and a wild wind began to stir, making dead leaves and dry dust dance around the two in a dramatic manner.

Then one of the fighters threw a card face-up on her dueling plate.

"I summon Kary, the Fiend of Fire!" The first dueler screamed, the shade created by the clouds hiding her true identity. "Kary, the Fiend of Fire has an attack power of 2600 points, while your Hero Card only has 1800 points! Since you only have 100 life points left, I’m going to win! And now, Kary, the Fiend of Fire! Attack Cecilia, the Magician!"

"Attack? Did you just say... attack?" said the second dueler, the shadows also hiding her every feature from view, save for a confident smirk. "I now activate my Trap Card, Hide! With Hide, Heroes of the Fighting class loses half of their attack power! Kary now only has 1300 attack points and that is less than Cecilia, the Magician!"

"Hah! You may think that you’ve outsmarted me, but I had expected something like that!" The first dueler laughed while she aggressively flipped one of her cards face-up. "Activate Magic Card, Gurgu Volcano! While this card is in play, all Heroes of the fire element gains 800 attack points! My card now has 2100 attack points, and that is still more than enough to beat you!"

"Have you forgotten Cecilia’s special ability? I activate the special ability of Cecilia, the Magician, and choose a Magic Card from my hand!" Responded the second dueler; her amused smirk never leaving her face while she energetically plucked a card from her hand. "And the card that I choose... is Eraser!"

"No!" The first dueler shrieked and reeled back in shock and too much drama. "Eraser makes a Hero with elemental affinity lose 500 points! Since Kary has affinity to fire, her attack power will go down to 1600! Since I only have 200 Life Points left, I’m going to lose!"

"Yes, and now, Cecilia, the Magician! Use Randomizer: Ice Needle and destroy Kary, the Fiend of Fire!"

And in glorious 3D, a gigantic, fully rendered Cecilia launched a thin beam of blue at a gigantic, fully rendered Kary, freezing and shattering it to pieces. While the poorly rendered polygons rained on the arena floor, the dark clouds in the sky dispersed, revealing the identities of the duelers.

"No! How can I lose?" The first dueler, now clearly identified as Kary, screamed in dismay "My cards were a lot stronger than yours!"

“Kary,” the second dueler, Cecilia, solemnly began "While your cards may be stronger, you lacked the ability to understand the heart of your cards, and that was why you lost!"

And thus, the crowds cheered. Just because.

As the commercial ended, the gathered group of dream chasers and fiends stared long and hard at their comrades.

"I really hope the two of you feel ashamed of yourselves." The Fiend of Air and mother of creation growled in disgust. "I can’t believe you let Kuja use your match like that."

"I couldn't help it!" cried Kary, her reddish skin tone redder than usual. "Gilgamesh had a fire sale on swords, and I needed the money!"

"And the Earth Golem needed cleaning," Cecilia added while drowning her shame in burgers, "I didn’t exactly want to drain Adlehyde’s coffers."

"Say, did you remember to leave some money for us?" Jack suddenly asked.

In response, the two Heavies just looked down in embarrassment.

Kary: 16
Cecilia Lyne Adelhyde: 51

"I Kary will knock you all down."
"Whaa... that's not even your line..."
"I Kary am the strongest of the four fiends..."
"No no no, you're in the wrong game now."
"I have a hell of a lot of swords!"
"Now you're ripping off a hero from your own game... kind of."
"..."
"Go see a doctor."
"Fine..."

I would put Cecilia at about white mage durability. Kary can't OHKO a white mage. Cecilia wins.
