Season 15, Week 4
Gau
(Final Fantasy VI)

Had his crazy old father been a seer, it's likely he never would have abandoned the poor wild child from the Veldt. After all, who wouldn't be proud of of their offspring making the heavy semifinals? Yes, FF6's very own Gau has fought his way past both doubt and extremely powerful opponents to make his way to the semi-finals. His mastery over the arts of the monsters of FF6 will help him immensely in the fight against the legendary robotic nightmare Diekbeck. Gau's plethora of powerful defensive rages, such as Magic Urn, give him durability on par with Diek's own vaunted Invincible. It'll be a battle of attrition, but Gau can easily outtank the robot and move along to the finals.

After a very hard-fought win over talking BtS skull Morte, this week’s match tickles Diekbeck’s happiness circuits. While Gau does have an overwhelming selection of rages complete with status, healing, and nasty defensive tricks, there is one thing the boy from the Veldt lacks: speed. This means that the speedy Diek can cast Invincible before Gau even has the chance to use a Rage, after which, he can pummel Gau with Divine Judgement and Divide. And Magic Urn, one of the only Rages that can outlast Diek’s MP, dies to a single casting of Rob Mind…

Gau, despite the wild look and a skillset based on rage, is in fact a calcluating fighter to his core. By relying on the likes of Magic Pot to see him through, he could invision no foe who could outlast his best.

It's funny in it's own way, that such a calculating fighter could die to a attack that's based in simple divison. Or in Diek speak:
Gau HP%2=50% HP left. Gau's max HP%2= 0 target HP left. Collect victory.

Gau: 16
Diekbeck: 23

Diekbeck's Invincible against Gau's myriad defensive and healing Rages would be a defensive battle for the record books...both fighters casting the strongest magic in the worlds to protect themselves, healing their wounds with arts both mechanical and arcane, and finally, once all their magic power is expended, taking to each other with physical...
...oh, wait. Gau doesn't need MP to heal.

Never mind.
