Season 2, Week 1
Berle
(Star Ocean: The Second Story)

Berle has the distinction of being one of the stronger of God's Ten Wise Men. While that isn't really a grandiose title, Berle creates fear in his opponents by the sheer horror that he brings to battle. Firstly, he is resistant to all elements, so Kuja won't be able to rely on Flare Star very much in this battle. Secondly, he likes to cast a little thing on himself called Meta-Barrier. Of course, why wouldn't he like to do that? Becoming invincible is ever so much fun, especially to see how attacks against you do nothing. Kuja'll be relying on his Curaga to keep himself alive in this match, and hoping that he'll have the opening he needs when Meta-Barrier is lowered, and Berle isn't coated in his shiny blue aura of impermiability.

The defending champion of the RPGDL, Kuja returns to action against a Wise Man who is likely his strongest opponent yet! Though Berle lacks the outright offensive power that his leader Indalecio displays, he's quite possibly an even stronger dueller, with his Meta-Guard. Fortunately for Kuja, his healing is just the kind of thing needed to wait out Berle's invincibility. And when that shield comes down, as it must from time to time, Kuja can make quick attacks with Flare, which does non-elemental, defence-ignoring damage, putting a massive hurt on the tankish Wise Man. It won't be easy, but life never is for a cross-dressing Genome, and that's never stopped this one from achieving great things before.

Superaielman
Berle was in trouble against Kuja. His meta cancelation attack didn't seem to damage the powerful Genome, and Flare Star was beginning to wear him out. So... he did the last thing people expected. He took off his helmet. The shock of this made Kuja faint, and it gave Berle the win.

Berle: 7
Kuja: 4

Dark Holy Elf
Kuja was perplexed. Very perplexed. He'd faced powerful opponents in the past, of course... The Seeker of Power, whose fists were weapons as punishing as any Shock or Ark summon Kuja had ever felt. The Sinistral of Terror, capable of reflecting any attacks back at the attacker. The Queen of the Enlightened Ones, master of HP and MP destruction. And Choko, a nice little girl who'd turned out to be one of the most frightening combinations of speed, power, and magic the Genome had ever seen.

But Berle was a completely different problem. As the Wise Man put up his trademark Meta-Guard, Kuja worried how he'd win this... he could try healing, but Berle's physical attacks were known to be terrifying, and Kuja's MP was not infinite regardless. What could he do?

His train of thought was rudely distracted as Berle hit him a Meta-Cancellation combo. "Ow! You little freak, how dare you attack me!" screamed Kuja.

"Little?" Berle snorted. "And freak? You're one to talk, thong-boy."

"Thong-boy? Well, excuse me if I have some fashion sense, unlike you, weighed down in all that heavy armour..." Kuja stopped a moment. Then it hit him. "Heh. It seems I've been getting my panties in a knot for no reason-"

Berle sweatdropped.

Kuja misinterpreted this as fear, although it didn't matter in the end. "Well, armour-boy," smirked the Genome. "Catch me if you can!" And with that, he flew to the other side of the ring.

"Come back here!" yelled the Wise Man, chasing. But it was no use; he couldn't keep up with his flying opponent. After several hours of Berle chasing Kuja all over the arena, much to the displeasure of the fans, Berle finally slumped to the ground in exhaustion.

Kuja alighted on the ground. "My, my. Tired, are we? But I'm just getting started..."

In his defenceless state, Berle could neither re-cast Meta-Guard, nor stop Kuja's casting of Flare from blasting him out of the ring.

I don't know how Berle should be considered. Bah. I just woted for Kuja, he seems to have the edge here.
