Silence is Golden

Precis vs herself
~Doma Dragoon

"Hey, Claude!" came a shrill cry from across the street. Claude shuddered as his friend Precis ran towards him quickly.

"I was looking through the store for some nice belts, just minding my own business and singing to myself, when this rude manager came and threw me out! I want you to go show him what's what!"

"Gee, I'd love to, Precis, but I think he had a point."

"What! How can you say that? I was doing nothing wrong!" screeched the young inventor loudly.

"Ears... can't take it..." moaned Claude as he collapsed.

"Claude! What's wrong?" asked Precis, as a crowd gathered.

"I told you that one day that girl would kill him," whispered one of the onlookers.

"What did you say?" cried Precis, as the crowd pushed back in self-defense.

"Look, you shrill harpy, your voice is atrocious!" yelled Tidus.

"Everytime you open your mouth, everyone around you tries to escape," Shion continued.

"I'm sure it's not your fault that you're a deadly weapon," Flonne said.

"But... what can I do?" asked Precis.

"How should we know? It's not like you have enough self control to shut up or anything," said Teepo.

"I... I can stay quiet. I'm sure I could go a whole week without talking."

"Perhaps you'd like to make a wager on that?" asked Setzer slyly.

And so the details were worked out...

After passing around the hat among the gathered, a pot of roughly 17.5 million fol was amassed. If Precis can go the entire week without speaking (or singing) a single word, the money is hers. But if she slips even once, for any reason, she'll have to pay that amount out of her own pocket to all the bettors.

  • Precis breaks the bank without breaking her silence
  • The onlookers profit from the inventor's incessant irritation

Grefter
Precis will not shut up. She won't even last 5 minutes.

With that much money floating around you are going to get all the cheating lowlife scum coming out of the wood works, she is destined to fail. Now some of the low lifes are going to trying to make her shut up, so silence spells are going to be thrown around like confeti, naturally to counter this dispelling magics will be spammed to counter. You know what wins in though? Silent Lake and drugs. Get Precis flipping out on some Acid then Silent Lake after a dispel and you have guaranteed victory. The question is, how damned hard would it be to track down the cheaters from the massive casts of Suikoden 2 and 3. They definitely have the expertise needed there, plenty of spell casters adept enough to get a Silent Lake off fast enough, fists full of ninja to get the little girl doped up and enough friends to give any involved an alibi.

Not that it really matters, all the cheating did was speed up the breaking of Precis by about 10 minutes.

Precis knew that there was no way she could keep quiet on her own, so she sent out emails to all of the best strategists for help. Soon afterwards, a reply came from Leon Silverburg:

Just go fight Indalecio and get killed. If you're dead, you can't talk, and afterwards someone has to revive you to pay you. "Genius!" Precis thought. She carefully climbed up the outside of Fienal and encountered the leader of the Wisemen.

A pity, that she felt compelled to say "Here's Mr. Enemy!" at a start of the match.

A shame, that Indalecio didn't care about her bet, and proceded to kill her anyway.

A sign of Precis's stupidity, that she would trust advice from one of the men that bet against her.

The only remaining question is if 17.5 million fol is really worth reviving her.
