Season 10, Week 4
Surt
(Valkyrie Profile)

The Vanir's greatest warrior stands at attention this week. Lord Surt has put away two tough opponents in Asellus and Dragon Master Alex this season, and his next match doesn't look to be any easier. Ryu's G Dragon spell, although not fatal, will greatly tax even Surt's phenomenal durability. However, after that earth shattering blast, Ryu will be reducded to a mere physical, and relying on his shaky Guts skill to finish off the fight. This means that once he endures Ryu's greatest blow, Surt has a fine chance of winning. Might Reinforce will be put to it's standard use, in pushing his physicals to the limits of what Ryu can take. Flare Strike, even resisted, will prove to be extremely painful for the half dragon, and should be enough to propel Odin's rival to a spot in the Heavy finals.

While the Ryus are known for slaying different gods of their worlds, the one Ryu2 is about to face is quite a bit different. His opponent, the Vanir King Surt, relies mostly on fire-based attacks, and that's just what Ryu likes; with his full array of Dragon equipment, he not only has the defense to survive a shot, but the Fire resistance to make Flare Strike nothing more than a mere rug-burn. Moreover, Guts will ensure the success of his "Heal and Counter" strategy. Or if he wants to be less subtle, there's always Ryu's ludicrously powerful G. Dragon. If that doesn't destroy Surt in one shot, a subsequent sword strike should fell the mighty giant. Yes, the Destined Child himself seems destined to take down the Giant King, and earn a spot in the Heavy finals.

Anyone whose played D&D should easily know who wins here. Dragons are a much higher difficulty level than giants are, being not only a higher level, but with more intelligence and defensive stats. Seriously...the d20 is on Ryu's side here.
