Season 10, Week 1
Zed
(Wild Arms)

Oops! Zed stumbles into the arena this week with a face almost as green as his hair; he may not be the most tactically savvy fighter in the league, but even he knows that a frontal attack against the frighteningly durable Jecht is going to be a risky endeavor. Therefore, the mercurial metal demon has another plan: wow the athlete with his indomitable style and class! His swordplay may not frighten his foe, but there are few indeed who can stand up long to the overwhelming snazziness of his theme music and inherent panache. Go, Zed, and show that dumb jock where a Heavy's power truly lies!

It took ten long seasons, but Zanarkand's star player is finally out of retirement. Jecht's first fight shouldn't be too much of a bother, as his monstrous HP and defence let him take more punishment than the metal demon can dish out, and getting hammered by one of his late-game Overdrives is something few foes can shrug off. Jecht may be outsped by his opponent, but that's a trivial disadvantage when his physical attack delays his enemy's movement. Jecht took his time in gracing the DL with his presence, but now that he's here there's little question that he can fight his way towards a championship. After all, he's the best!

Zed entered the Arena. His theme began to play, the fans cheered...everything was looking perfect. With his trusty Doom Bringer in hand, he confidently waited for his opponent's arrival.

Finally, Jecht came to the Arena from his locker room, with his theme song Otherworld accompanying him, playing so loud that Zed's theme couldn't be heard anymore. Being a former star player, Jecht had more fans than the Quarter Knight wannabe could ever even dream of. And he had a sword that was at least three times the size of Zed.

Zed did the wise thing, and called the match instantly.

Zed: 13
Jecht: 28

Jecht has his own Battle theme

Jecht's 2nd letter is an E, and well, woudln't you know it, so is Zed's.

But there is one thing Jecht has that Zed doesn't. And that is that Jecht can indeed go around saying He's the best, and not have Vegitables thrown at him, or be laughed at, the way Zed would. Match to the Blitzer Legend.

No matter who wins between Zed and Jecht, the pre-battle banter will be more impressive than the fight itself.

Dark Holy Elf
Jecht didn't even have to make a single attack in his match this week. All he did was show up, and adopt his battle form... you know, the one that's fifty feet tall with flaming eyes and a sword that would no doubt give Freud a heart attack if he saw it. On top of this, he arranged for 'Otherworld' to be blared from the arena loudspeakers, and finally, packed the stands with screaming Zanarkand Abes fans. Of course, when Zed showed up and realised just what the hell he'd gotten himself into with this match, he fled fast enough to make even the most decorated of recurring villains proud.

After the match, Zed deflected any allegations of cowardice, insisting he had acted with discretion. "The grim reaper is my penpal," the always wisecracking Metal Demon quipped in an interview after the match. "And I have no desire for our relationship to get any closer!"

Starphoenix das Helpoemer
Are we allowing Zed his Monster Z form? Because technically, it's still him... and technically he'd plaster the walls with Jecht's blood. I mean, the only way I see Jecht pulling this off is if he hastes himself somehow, and seeing that he doesn't have that particular skill and seeing that Monster Z will probably end up double turning and so forth eventually, Jecht whistles his monstrous arse to the other side of the Farplane.
