Skies of Aveh
Delphinus vs. Yggdrasil IV and he Yggdrasil Gear Forces
~Cmdr. King

Vyse's Journal: The past two weeks on Crescent Isle had been busier than most. Brabham had come out of a self-induced daze and insisted on installing something he called a 'Rocket Engine' on the Delphinus. Sure, it was a wacked out idea that came to the old man in a dream, but it was no weirder than anything else we've let him do, right? Anyway, he said that with this, we'd be able to go beyond the Moons and see what was on the other side. I can't wait!

Aika's Journal: Well, we finally passed the Moons yesterday. Guess what! There were other worlds beyond them! I hope they have lots of juicy things to eat!

Fina's Journal: Last night we started to orbit the closest world we found. We wanted to get an idea of where things were before going down. Oh, I almost forgot; this world has water between its islands instead of Air. I've never read of anything like that before...

Over the skies of Ignas
Vyse leaned forward from his place at the helm in excitement. "Alright! Let's see who's down there and introduce ourselves."
"Yeah! Maybe they'll have a welcoming feast!"
Vyse groaned at this. "Aika, you don't have to get that excited..."
Fina's moniter pinged. "I think I have something. And object is in the sky directly ahead of us. I can't get clear readings, it's surrounded by an energy field I've never seen before..."
"Huh. Aika, are we getting any kind of signals?"
A few seconds later. "Wow... you should all here this..."
After a slight burst of static "...repeat, unidentified craft, you have violated Aveh airspace. Deactivate your weapons and prepare to be escorted to Shevat Hanger #15."
Aika frowned. "I don't like this..."

Under heavy guard, the Air Pirates were taken not to the throne room, but to the bridge of another ship in the docks. They halted before a blonde man sporting a decidedly piratical eye-patch.
"So, what makes you think you can invade my country?"
Vyse was livid. "Invade?! We're here as explorers from Arcadia!"
The blonde man didn't move. "uh-huh. And what do you do when exploring doesn't pay off?"
Vyse didn't flinch. "We're Air Pirates."
"I see. Well, I'm Bartholomew Fatima, King of Aveh. And when that doesn't work, I happen to be a sand pirate. So, let's see what we can work out..."

The terms are simple. Vyse must captain the Delphinus and defeat Bart's flagship, the Yggdrasil IV, or be locked up in its brig. The Delphinus has the advantage in durability and speed, owing to Aika's mastery of Green spells and Vyse, Aika, and Fina all being able to act independantly to opperate the ship's weapons. However, the Yggdrasil IV can draw upon its gear forces, including Xenogears, Fenrir, and Crescens.

  • Vyse and crew send the Yggdrasil back to the sand
  • Bart locks the Air Pirates away
  • Something incredibly screwy happens, and both ships are demolished.

While the Yggdrasil IV and the gears within it can inflict massive damage, I don't see them taking out the Delphinus in one turn. That being the case, Aika can restore the ship to full health every turn while the other two pound away with the guns and the occasional Moon Stone Cannon shot. The Delpinus wins a slugfest.
