Season 8, Week 3
Jr.
(Xenosaga Series)

Fresh off his victory over the younger Maru two weeks ago, this gunslinging youth is now putting his sights on a princess instead of a king. Wielding two legendary Blood9 pistols, Jr. holds a definite physical advantage over his much frailer foe. As well, his plethora of defensive spells like Coin Lock (to block Cecilia's status spells) and status spells such as Misty (to prevent Cecilia from casting magic) give him a major advantage against his current foe. Guns blazing, Jr.'s ready to take down his newest opponent and secure his spot in the semis.

Rolling into these Quarterfinals, we have Cecelia Lynn Adlehyde. With both a spell list and MP reserve that would make most mages green with envy, she's ready to take on Jr. While her Prison and statuses are shut down this match, she can also shut down her opponent's own tricks. With Hide, she can avoid his damaging physicals, and the Holy Parasol can absorb his status attacks as MP to restore he reserve, but does she really need it? She can heal, so all she has to decide if either a lucky enough Randomizer, or being slow and steady with her great array of other spells, will win the race.

I personally see this as a battle that hinges on whether or not Jr. can kill Cecilia in his first two attacks. If he can't, Cecilia will just spam her Shield and Hi-Heal spells to the point where Jr. deals negligible physical damage. Since Jr. doesn't have any dispell spells nor can he increase his strength with Coin Lock in effect, and since Wild ARMs buff spells last an entire battle, his primary damage dealer against the high MDF mage is shut down. From then on, it's just a matter of choosing how Cecilia wants to end this match. With Fire? Ice? Lightning? Or with every element in the Rainbow?

Jr. looks to the man who he is making his little deal with, "So you know what you have to do, right?"

"Of course. Have no worries."

"I'm trusting you on this..."

Of course, after Jr.'s sound thrashing in the arena, it turns out his trust was vastly misplaced. After a trip to the healer, he stalks up to Albedo after the match.

"I THOUGHT I TOLD YOU TO KEEP HER OCCUPIED BEFORE THE MATCH!"

Albedo simply chuckled. "I'm sorry, my little Rubedo... but I'm afraid she was just too old for my liking."

Let that be a lesson to all of you... never trust a known pedophile to do your dirty work.
