Season 8, Week 1
Jean
(Breath of Fire II)

The last time Jean competed, he beat two members of the Shining Force before losing to a denizen of the second Star Ocean. To his dismay, his first season 8 opponent matches the latter description; luckily, she's almost entirely different from her teammate. Jean's great defense and HP will let him withstand Chisato's assault; and with his Pwr Dwn spell, he'll be laughing - or ribbiting - right in her face. Hush cripples Chisato's offense, and there's the always-useful finisher in the form of Death, the move that slaughtered Light's Season 7 roster. The Prince of Sima Fort has the style to win this, and victory for him is but an art.

The intrepid reporter from the Nede Chronicle is up against an interesting foe in this match, but Chisato remains resilient. With her multi-hitting Killer Moves, such as her ability to spin her body into a rolling dervish of pain with Twister, to break his body with Rising Dragon, or to pound Jean into the proverbial wall with Tear Gas, Chisato doesn't have much to worry about from the Prince from a foreign land.

Both fighters stepped onto the arena confident about their chances at victory. Jean was undoubtedly going to open with his Death spell, while Chisato would most likely turn to her Killer Moves. Just before the signal for the match to begin was made, the sound of a ring tone was heard. It's source - Chisato Madison.

"What!?!?! There's a battle going on with Iseria Queen involved!? The same one that Claude and our party faced a while ago!? And Lloyd and Sephiroth are in on it as well!? I CAN'T miss this!"

And with that, Chisato bolted out of the arena in a heartbeat, totally forgetting about her match. It wasn't until the next day that she realized she was disqualified by default for leaving the arena.

Jean: 17
Chisato Madison: 16

Nephrite
Instant Death < Chisato.

Unfortunatly for Chisato, Jean, being French, is far too sophisticated to fall for any of her potential tricks. That, or Jean's just too dimwitted to understand them, is busy thinking of himself, finally gets hit with some Tear Gas, and in response, casts Death on Chisato, and kills her, then sends her many gifts while she's in the hospital for accidently killing her as a way of apoligizing...

Either way, he'll win.
