Season 7, Week 4
Orlandu, Cidolfas
(Final Fantasy Tactics)

Fresh from his victory over the endgame terror that is Necron, Count Cidolfas Orlandu brings his profound prowess to the ring against the mechanized menace, Asgard. His great strength and speed imbued by the mighty Excalibur, Cid's Holy Explosions and frequent double-turns will be making quite a mark even in the impressive defenses of the outsped Golem, and Night Sword's draining will keep him fresh even after Asgard's pummelling. Above all, though, the Thundergod is a master general and strategist, and he'll have no shortage of clever tricks up his sleeves and cloak. Orlandu will prove this week that not even the most advanced computer can triumph over the keen and flexible human mind, and that not even the most futuristic engineering is always a match for good old-fashioned sword-smithing.

Asgard smashed one holy swordsman last week, and that experience will serve him well this week as he faces another: Thunder God Cid himself. Although it's anyone's guess whether an artificial intelligence can feel fear, Cidolfas Orlandu could be the opponent that gives positive proof. With monstrous HP and positively nightmarish speed, Cid will be quite the challenge for the golem. Asgard's invincibility shields will be more important than ever if he wants to stop Cid from draining his energy away, and he'll have to time his HP-halving Barrier Storm carefully to whittle down his foe's resistance. One thing's for certain: Asgard will need to use every trick in his programming to defeat this fearsome foe.

My hat's off to Asgard. The mighty bot stopped two holy fighters in a row without much trouble, and made a much better showing than he did in his last RPGDL apperance. However, Asgard's reached the end of his season here. Wide Barrier is useless against Cid, and Orlandu's speed can overwhelm his impressive defensive barriers.
