Season 7, Week 3
Asgard
(Wild Arms 3)

Although he easily smashed his way through eliminations, Asgard will surely have to put all his analytical circuits to work to find a successful strategy against this week's troublesome opponent. The tricks he employed against Riou won't be as reliable with this foe: Miguel is immune to the fearsome Wide Barrier, and his double attacks will surely test the endurance of the golem's invincibility shield. Still, all is not lost for Filgaia's foremost AI. Asgard's mechanical body can take more than a couple hits, and if he's able to sneak in a few well-placed physicals in between shields then he might just be able to wear Miguel down. Will the android evolve one step closer to a championship, or will the holy fisherman send him to meet his maker?

Pleased with his close victory over the fiery Karayan, the holy fisherman has cleaned his cap and waders in preparation of his second-round bout against the terrifying Golem Asgard. He's as calm and composed as ever, though; many combatants have noticed him training almost non-stop over the past week, and they've commented that his Holy Dragon Sword is looking positively radiant. Of course, no matter how brightly it shines, it will have trouble getting through Asgard's invincible escutcheons of energy; while one is rebutted by the barrier, however, a second should be capable of striking true. Impervious to the dreaded Wide Barrier and fleeter of foot than his ponderous foe, Miguel feels ready to reel this big one in.

The sun slowly set over the open-air Arena, bathing the entire stadium in a warm orange glow as the Divine Fortress of Filgaia faced off with the Divine Fisherman of Arni. The tension was thick enough to be cut with a knife as Asgard's generators started to gently hum, and Miguel's lips moved rapidly in preparation of a spell. With a flash of white light and a mechanized *click*whirr* they were upon eachother, Holy Dragon Sword meeting the Golem's impenetrable barrier, shattering the wall of energy just before the sorcerous blade swung around in its second arc. Before the warrior-mage could recover, though, the great steel fist of Asgard would come down upon him, bringing him closer to his knees with every blow. For some time it continued in this fashion, both combatants wearing down to the breaking point, until finally it happened: the valiant Miguel took a blow to the chest strong enough to kill any lesser man instantly, and Asgard loomed over his barely-conscious body.

"Yield... stop..." he struggled to say to his chrome conqueror.

"I'm afraid," came the response as a great steel foot was slowly raised, "that I can't do that, Dave."
