Season 60, Week 5
Edgar Roni Figaro
(Final Fantasy VI)

The pursuit of women is a subtle art that takes the full wit, class, and charm of a man - particularly, a royal-blooded noble such as Edgar Roni Figaro. As the street rat Zidane possesses none of these traits, it should be easy for the King to ignore his blather about shared interests and just pound his face in - or, well, just trick him out. Soul Blade holds nothing that scares Edgar - he can block the deadly petrification, and silence and mini do nothing to slow down his Tools skillset. Let's see how much trash Zidane can talk after he's been confused, Air Anchored, and chainsawed by Edgar!

Zidane and Edgar might normally prefer to meet over drinks and discuss their latest romantic conquests, but the cruel arena instead pits these two lotharios together in a bloody fight. And of course, not only do they have similar interests, but also similar fighting styles. Both rely on crippling, highly-accurate status that can debilitate their foes in a single turn. And luckily for Zidane, he's faster and Edgar misses guarding several of his key Soul Blade statuses. Doom alone should spell trouble for the King of Figaro, leaving Zidane the glory - and more importantly, the ladies!

It was a meeting that they all knew would be great. The crowds were packed with the likes of Irvine, Zelos, Edge and Vigoro, all coming to bear witness to this event. Naturally, with duelists like these, nobody could expect them to play to the rules, and so a challenge they would appreciate was thought up. The contest? To see who could get the most ladies into the arena with them at the specified time. Of course, a few ground rules had to be set down, or who knew what they'd try? The ladies had to be willing to go with them - that means they had to be conscious, too; no carrying dead or sleeping bodies with them. They had to be absolutely positively female - sorry Flea - and they weren't allowed to pay them to follow.

There was one small flaw the organisers missed, however. When the girls and the duelists ran into each other, each determined to have their own fighter win, all hell broke loose - when they specified "they had to be conscious," they didn't consider the fact that a fight would break out outside of the arena. Unfortunately, Zidane's reputation isn't the greatest, and Edgar was being backed up by both Terra and Celes. It wasn't long before the genome's small following were sent to the DL infirmary by the army that Edgar had amassed.

Oh well. At least it saved him the humiliation of losing in the actual contest.
