Season 57, Week 4
Ness
(Earthbound)

Now, this may seem an annoyingly lopsided fight for the young savior from Onett. Edea is quite skillful at magical tricks - Maelstrom's gravity damage is problematic, and her Death spell is even more troublesome, as it can down any person vulnerable. However, Ness is hardly unable to circumvent that: having a rare speed edge over an opponent (as Edea, in spite of her powers, suffers from the typical liabilities of a mage by being slow and frail), Ness can get a crucial opening that will leave the wicked Sorceress unable to fight back - either Psi Rockin' or a SMAAAAAAAASH from Ness' trusty Gutsy Bat should leave the witch reeling. And even if she survives that assault, a missed casting of Death will be her end. The psychic kid ain't missing his chance to get back to Godlike where he belongs!

Now, now. Surely this has to be just a joke for the mighty Sorceress. They heard that Edea ran an orphanage so they sent a little boy to face her? What's with that? After beating two things that may well be overgrown farm animals, Edea is playing for keeps; she’ll soon be sending Ness to the nurse's office! Granted, while Ness may generally be a tougher opponent than the two Pokémon she dispatched, he matches up even worse against Edea in all ways that matter. He’s much slower, much less damaging, and can't even resist her brutal Death spell like those glorified pets. His strengths of status slinging, durability, anti-physical skills and plenty of healing won’t help him at all here. One quick Death spell, and Edea should have a clear path to the championship fight.

Unfortunately, Edea burned up on re-entry on the way to the arena.

Well, roughly in that direction. Probably wouldn't have landed there.

It turns out that all the instant kill moves in the world won't save you from a random little girl blasting you skywards with a frying pan. You have to be careful with the ones with the quiet girlfriends.
