Season 57, Week 2
Endora
(Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen)

She’s once, twice, five times a caster! Per round, that is! Endora, the dark empress and witch that brightens up everyone’s gloomy ol' day with five times the magical goodness of other breakfast cereals, is back to terrorize Godlike! First up on her agenda, Riou! Sure, his attack is nigh on crippling when cast with no damage, but how much will it really do after having to heal five spells worth of damage? Not very much! That also supposes that Riou will survive long enough to cast them. Riou is a pretty hardy kid, but even he can’t usually take five hits and keep going, thanks to Endora's relentless barrage of twisted spells and her speed. It’s time for Endora to go on a roll, possibly with pink hearts, green clovers and all the rest too!

Riou's match with the Black Queen is going to be as short and brutal as you'd expect. Forgiver Sign is built to tear through the undurable, which the Empress most certainly is. What could stop Riou from blasting through all of Endora's health in one life? Missing. While her magic evasion is impressive, it isn't as easy to dodge the power of a True Rune's ultimate spell as it is to avoid Lich magic! All the power and smarts that the leader of the Dunan Liberation Army possesses are useless, as this fight comes down to a brutal test of strength and will. There will be no second chances, as Endora's magic will tear Riou apart if he doesn't hit. Not that it matters, as no self respecting hero would lose to an evil and corrupt empress like Endora!

The fell magics blasted through the arena, swiftly bringing low the plucky rebel leader. Looking down at the crushed, but not yet defeated foe before her, Endora held back her final spell, and cackled.

"Pitiful FOOL! You dared to stand before the great and mighty Endora? Let this be the lesson to all who would challenge my dominion! Think on your worthlessness in your final moments before I crush you utterly. COWER as I decide on how best to..."

Endora, engrossed in her ranting stopped as she noticed not only Riou's determined stare, defiantly meeting her eyes, but also the steady pulsing glow coming from his right hand.

"Didn't you hear, the evil empire always loses!"

Endora loosed her finishing spell, but Riou's light surged, shielding him from the dark magics.

"Because we cannot fail those who look up to us, those who we inspire!"

The light flares, surrounding them, becoming all, as within it, an image of Northwindow appears.

"Because even when we're alone, our allies always give us their strength!"

An image of the Two Rivers, and the stars from there standing together flickers in the light.

"Because their hope is our light!"

An image of a bunch of happy stars in Tinto clustered around a Gustave looking like he's going to be sick flickers in the light.

"And our light shall pierce every darkness!"

With a final image of sentai squirrels frolicking through green fields, the light turns into a pillar of purest white blasting Endora who, with a final cry of "So... wholesome... it burns... it BURNS!!!", perished.

In the quiet of the stunned crowd, Shu nodded briskly after finishing his speech and left Riou to receive the accolades. After all, it was Riou's job to stand there, use his Rune, and claim the credit for Shu's victories, after all.
