Season 6, Week 3
Red
(SaGa Frontier)

For a superhero, beating someone as vile as Dycedarg isn't out of the ordinary. This week, it's a much different story. Rydia isn't a villain like Dycedarg, but that doesn't mean she should be taken lightly. She wields powerful black magic and nasty summons. Red can handle that, though. He'll get in a few free shots with his normal techs before he's required to morph. When he turns into Alkaiser and starts using Re-Al-Phoenix, things will get ugly. With Rydia's poor HP and defense, it's unlikely that Red will have much trouble steamrolling her for his second win.

The girl who grew up in the Land of Summoned Monsters is in for a tough fight this week! Rydia faces an opponent whose strengths play into her weaknesses. Still, the power of her Bahamut and Meteo spells remain, and taking a chance on Asura's Armor-sided summon could turn the battle in her favour. Parasitic healing from Drain or Sylph could also keep her above water long enough to down the superhero.

Red was confident as the match was about to begin. After all, why shouldn't he be? Alkaiser had proven to be strong enough to grab the win in the Eliminations match, and there was no way this frail little girl was going to be able to take a Re-Al-Pheonix, giving him an easy path to the Semifinals. With that in mind, the match began and he transformed into Alkaiser.

Or at least, he tried to transform. For no reason he could place, though, he hadn't turned into Alkaiser. It was then that he noticed the dramatic figure in white standing upon the arena walls.

"Leo? What're you doing here in that stupid mask?"

"Leo?" replied the White Knight. "Who is this Leo you speak of? I am... Mystere!" he paused briefly for a dramatic flourish of his cape.

"...Look, why're you here Leo?"

"Again with this Leo? Unlike some people who shan't be named, Mystere doesn't reveal who he really is!"

Red felt a sinking feeling in his stomach as he heard that... He wasn't supposed to let people know who Alkaiser was, and apparently it had been decided that turning into Alkaiser in the middle of a gladatorial deathmatch in front of a large audience somehow didn't mesh with that.

"Uhhh... you here for anything else besides telling me that?" Red asked cautiously, hoping nothing more would be coming.

"Indeed there is! I was instructed to make sure that you remember this. In other words, you need a spanking!"

And, before Red could do much of anything, Mystere leapt into the ring, catching Red easily. And then, with a cry of "Discipline feels good!" soundly paddled him with the flat of his blade. It was a short and rather disturbing affair that, when over, left an image of Red slinking off the field, Mystere bounding off with a cry of "My Name is Mystere, remember it!", and Rydia, standing there with a stunned expression on her face as all that had just happened slowly dawned on her.

Unfortunatly for poor Rydia, just as soon as she managed to come to grips with the fact that she had won without casting a single spell, she had to come to grips with the fact that she hadn't won. It seems the ever fickle judges had decided that this time, a random third party hopping into the ring and spanking one of the participants would indeed count as interference.

Red: 10
Rydia: 6

AAA
As much as a I like Rydia, and her aptitude for kicking the ass of men much older than her(in mind, anyway), Red quite simply murders her, what with her lack of Defense and Red being able to take enough of her magic to kill her. Well, I guess Red gets to meet Altima, another evil being for the superhero to kill.

Rydia came into the match with a brilliant plan - to status out Red with Stop or Toad. She knew she was faster than him, so she figured this would work.

Unfortunately, she didn't do all her homework - Alkaiser has initiative. Needless to say, Rydia was in need of more than just Rosa's healing spells when she got hit by Re-Al Phoenix.
