Season 55, Week 2
Dekar
(Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals)

Who's this winged freak? Some kind of emaciated psycho playing at being the Grim Reaper? Well that may have worked down in Light, but Dekar is going to show this guy that contending in Middle is a whoooole 'nother matter. Being tougher then an elephant and hitting about as hard puts Dekar in a pretty good position to take on the purely physical Landis, and that's before getting into his ability to heal. Sure he might be slow, but as the winger is hardly a speed demon himself, Dekar's usual flaw won't be as big of a deal. But the real advantage he brings is his intelligence...or lack thereof. Landis, have fun trying to terrify a man who doesn't even know what "fear" means!

Like, hehehehehehehehehehehhehe! It looks like some musclebound oaf wants to be scared bad! Oh, Landis can provide! Oh yes, Landis knows about dealing with musclebound oafs! It's time to put the scythe to work and pound down Dekar good! In a match like this, it's about the stats and the scariness. On the first count, Landis has the easy edge. With his speed-boosting Blood Armor, he's much faster than Dekar could dream of and can dodge more. It's not even a contest. As for scariness? Dekar's an idiot with a big sword. Landis has a SCYTHE and is DARK. How can Dekar compete with that? He can't! He'll get scared and run off, all while Landis pounds him from Middle down to Light.

There are times where one must give one's all.

Everything you have.

Every little scrap of power you can muster.

For both combatants, this is their time.

Dekar wasn't really surprised when Landis hadn't shown up.

After all, Dekar had, on the way to the arena: fallen down stairs, into a spiked pit, whose walls crushed him before the floor gave out, dumping him seventy feet into a lake of acid, whose horrific, magically modified shark inhabitants were more at home than any mere human. The lake whose highly advanced magical sensors would, upon sensing an arrival, heat the lake to vaporization within a few minutes, before splitting several atoms of helium with highly focused mystical precision.

The explosion was heard for miles.

Unfortunately, Dekar has the mystical power of deus ex machina and ended up riding one of the sharks into the arena.

(The arena was pretty close to the explosion, you see. It was lake front property now.)

No, Dekar wasn't surprised that his cowardly opponent would fear the law and his mighty stature enough to not show.

Landis, exhausted, was still sleeping in his room. To heck with fear. That was way more work than he's used to.
