Season 54, Week 5
Loki
(Valkyrie Profile)

The Trickster God has finally overcome his long-time curse, tearing his way through a Duelling League season - including feared Godlikes like Piastol - and into a heated finals match! This, like many, is actually a rematch for Loki, who already had the displeasure of facing Ryu the Third once. However, his defeat many seasons ago only gives him more fuel to exact bloody vengeance upon the silent dragon boy. Loki's soul-shattering Indiscriminate chains are capable of felling even ancient horrors, and even Ryu's Kaiser form should kneel in defeat against a well-placed spell string. And Loki can survive any assault brought by Ryu with his legendary durability. The God of Deception will finally rise to the throne for his long-deserved title, and no obnoxious scaled freaks will get in his way!

The power of the Brood is insurmountable, no questions asked - as the manic clown Kefka, who was left shattered in the wake of Ryu's unstoppable power, unpleasantly found out. This time, it's a God who seeks to challenge the power of dragonkind, but this is nothing but a fancy name for "victim". Ryu's slaughtered far scarier deities in his time, and this will be no different. Loki may be a trickster god - as he so says - but he won't fool anyone into thinking he's faster than Ryu. Loki can unleash the power of the Dragon Orb, he can unseal the limitless potential of Indiscrimate, he can poison Ryu's very flesh with Carnage Anthem. But nothing Loki has will do much more than annoy Ryu, and an annoyed Kaiser dragon is -not- what any creature wants to be facing in a battle.

Paltheos

Loki's titanic defense stat and vast array of elemental attacks from both ends of the spectrum would ordinarily make him a fearsome foe for many a godlike. Unfortunately, his opponent in the finals is Ryu3, whose Kaiser form cuts most elemental damage by 75% (on top of impressive defenses) and has potent means of bypassing Loki's defenses. Try as he might, Loki won't be able to kill Ryu before he can transform, and like many opponents before him will fall victim to the dreaded Kaiser crunch. Chalk up another Godlike championship for Ryu.

Loki: 19
Ryu: 32

Blank Syndrome
Loki and Ryu are both exceedingly durable and it's a noteworthy matchup, but Ryu's still in the advantage with his flexible (buff+healing) skillset and transformations. Heck, even knocking Ryu out of Kaiser doesn't leave the dragonling helpless.

Barubary
Well done Loki... you beat someone way out of your league... guess you get the medal this season.

Gratz on beating Ryu III dunno how you'll do it but you shoulda lost to the bane of godlikes
