Season 54, Week 4
Naoto Shirogane
(Persona 4)

Naoto's fights in this season have been quite simple, which isn't at all fitting for a detective of her caliber. And the semis battle won't be any less typical, but it's going to be quite brutal: Hiro, the gung-ho adventurer with a thing for blue-haired goddesses, is highly skilled with a blade in spite of his age, and his Triple Sword technique can overcome even Naoto's evasion. However, he isn't any less vulnerable to the life-ending power of Mudoon and Hamaon than anyone else, and the Detective "Prince" only needs one shot to win - meanwhile, Hiro is quite likely to need more than that, particularly with Naoto's enduring will in play. As long as she can get that one opening, the Persona user is set for victory - and for the finals.

Surviving Triple Sword is possible if you're a tank, which Naoto isn't. Beating Hiro with damage is possible if you're an excellent fighter or a very skilled mage packing a game-changing spell or two, which Naoto isn't. Overwhelming Hiro with status is possible if you're accurate enough, which Naoto isn't. Miss Shirogane has a lot of "maybes" and "coulds" in this fight with her chancy instant-death fighting style. Giving Hiro a single crack at attacking is suicidal enough, but a second and third try? That's likely to be the last mistake you ever make. Well, Naoto will soon learn the folly of challenging one of Heavy's best fighters with nothing more than a hope and the literal shot in the dark provided by her instant death magic.

Man, Naoto spared no expenses in bribing people this season. This is her third opponent in a row who lacks instant death protection who is also argubly slower to boot. She'll face a fourth opponent who can't block ID this season in the finals, and one who's best damage is completely blocked by her Persona resistances.
