Season 54, Week 1
Beecham
(Suikoden III)

As one of the 108 Stars of Destiny... and not one of the more famous ones... and appearing in the latest crew chronologically... okay, so none of these factors matter at all, let's just forget we even started with that. So, what matters here for Beecham? Simple answer: that Water Rune he was wise to come with from the starts, allowing him loads of healing to keep himself afloat in a slugfest with his one-dimensional opponent. Well, sure, Avril can delay her opponent's turns with sword strikes as her one niche , but then, Beecham isn't exactly fearing her damage. Furthermore, his Parry skill will allow him to evade a few of her attacks easily enough, allowing him to get a few more in before healing. An easy match for the Karayan.

It feels as if something similar happened before... didn't Avril get in just one season ago? Well, let's put aside weird feelings of deja vu for now. Having a Water Rune user for her first battle may seem like a tall order for the amnesiac, but Beecham's not the only one with full healing in this match. If she can use the Mountain Medium, Avril has access to Critical Heal. While it is expensive, Reinforce will help her reach the required FP, and the regenerative energies of a Ley Point will help her weather Beecham's weak attacks until then. From there, it's a battle of attrition, and since her method of healing is limitless, and she has the occassional Blocker and Retaliate helping her, Avril will overcome this hurdle.

What Beecham didn't know that Avril's defeat was only the beginning. Ahead of him lies a trip from the DL arena to parts far and wide. In his hand he holds an ORB. For Beecham must travel far, to the depths of the swarm and earth, to volacanos, to sunken shrines and even sky castles. In the end, it is his destiny to break the loop and face Ice Queen Avril.

Godspeed, Beecham! Good luck next round! You must win and upgrade! Save the ORBs, Beecham!
