Season 53, Week 3
Ice Queen Avril
( Wild ARMs 5)

Even though both contestants are new to the DL, there's plenty we know about them. Souji has incredible variety, while Ice Queen Avril is a straightforward, fast slugger. Luckily for Avril, that's all she needs. With her stat buffs, her magic will put pressure on Souji. And while he does have plenty of SP, he will, at some point, run out. The ability to block both physical and magical attacks will keep Souji from inflicting much harm, and can easily frustrate a Mind/Power Charge strategy. And, of course, his status attacks will be ineffective. As the fight draws on, Avril only gains more abilities, while Souji will start running out of them. So while it will be a tough slugfest, Ice Queen Avril can snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

"Yoshitsune!" was the last sound Yuna heard before Hassou Tobi ripped her to shreds. With the light of Spira defeated in an incredibly impressive debut, it's onto the next match for Souji. Avril's darker half has a useless 4D Pocket, her best damage is blocked, and she's fighting someone with enough firepower to take out an army to add insult to injury. Souji can also heal nearly forever as well, just for a nail on the coffin! It's all about picking the right persona with the right skills and cruising. The same toughness and clarity of mind that got him through a terrible murdery mystery in Inaba will serve him well here - Ice Queen Avril may be a tough mistress, but she's no match for Izanami and the others who Souji crushed on his path to victory.

Namagomi
It had been the culmination of weeks of effort.

Souji's Understanding of his own limits, and his Knowledge of the opponent's.

The Courage to face the Ice Queen with head held high...and the Diligence to wear her defenses down...

"Thou art I, and I am thou. Thou has our blessing when creating a Persona of the Aeon arcana..."

Yosuke and Kanji watched from the stands, as Avril walked off the Arena, motioning for Souji to follow with a smirk on her face--which he did. As she was the first to leave the Arena, the win was awarded to Souji.

"...That is not even fair." Yosuke bemoaned his leader's immense luck. "...I can't believe that he managed to get yet ANOTHER girl to go with him!"

"...oh, uh, Sempai? I won the bet, remember?" Kanji cut in.

"Kgggghhhh..." Yosuke grumbled, handing over 5,000 yen to the much larger underclassman. "It can't be that hard! I mean...he can pull that off, then so can I!" He confided himself as he headed across the stands, approaching the first woman in the Godlike section that stood out to him.

...Not too much later, he was sent to the infirmary with multiple scythe-inflicted wounds. It's always an amazingly bad option to try and chat up one of the Godlikes most known for anti-perversion tendencies--especially when it happens to be Piastol.
