Season 52, Week 4
Mia Ausa
(Lunar: Silver Star Story)

Not about to let Nash show her up in Middle, Mia is determined to get to the finals - and possibly claim a championship - herself. But she needs to watch out, because a dastardly thief is here to try and steal that dream away from her here in the semifinals! Surely he has some amazing thief powers that are a match for even her skillful spellcasting, yes? Right? ...oh. Okay, apparently the only think Locke can do is attack physically, and his strikes are hardly formidable. Well then, Mia has an easy answer to that with the ever-handy Ice Shell to raise her defense through the roof and, if needed, even higher than that. Once he can no longer really damage her, a couple castings of Flameria should put this rogue away for good.

Locke Cole is not looking forward to this match. Not only is he facing a powerful mage, but he'll have to go against his natural instincts of protecting demure-looking women like Mia Ausa here. But Locke knows he can't be hesitating, now that he's come this far in the season and is within reach of another championship match. His big advantage in this kind of fight is his speed, and he'll certainly have no troubles running circles around a slow-casting mage like Mia. It's just a matter of wearing her down before she can pull off too many of her more explosive abilities. Alternately, he could always take a lesson from Zidane's handbook and steal her clothes, but that'd hardly be fair. It'd be incredibly awesome to pull off, but...

Mia stood primly in the arena, staff in hand. Locke, on the other side, grinned cockily, knives flitting in and out of his sleeves. "Sure you don't want to call it a loss and just go home safe, Mia?" he called as the match began, wandering over right nearby her.

"...Your offer is kind, but I cannot accept." Mia replied, hands still clutching her staff. Locke chuckled at this. "Look, Mia. I've got the speed, I've got the damage, and your magic is good but it's just not good enough. I've-" "Ice Axe." "-got enough durability to take whatever you want to dish out and give it- wait, what was that?"

Locke's eyes opened mid-monologue to see Mia swinging her staff at him-

and on it was a glistening axe head, made purely of ice and descending irrevocably.

MORAL OF THE STORY: Having speed is all well and good, but you can't argue with an ice axe by a young woman trained in both magic and axing (the latter by Bartre) to the face.

Mia Ausa: 29
Locke Cole: 23

Locke was feeling rather clever. It had taken all his "treasure hunting" skills and then some but he had succeeded in keeping the Mia Ausa fan club from incapacitating him prior to the match. Thus, he was caught totally off guard by the barrage of magic hitting him seconds after he entered the arena.

Turns out Locke's plan had a flaw. Stealing the club's Bromide collection and threatening to destroy it if they tried any tricks to keep him from appearing was effective. However, Bromides fall under illegal equipment and Locke ended up leaving them unattended in the locker room. He did receive the win due to all the interference but not without cost.

Locke was unhurt physically. Mia was relaxing at a spa and never showed up. She understood the situation upon receiving a coupon for a free visit and bailed out rather that slug out a losing battle. Nope, the end result of the magic barrage was Locke turned into a large female octopus in a pink mini-skirt. A hideous sight actually, except to another octopus...

Say, who's that getting the spectacle on tape? This will be fun. For Ultros anyways. The Mia Ausa fan club made sure the transformation won't wear off for a couple of days.
