Season 51, Week 4
Myria
(Breath of Fire Series)

The best thing about these DL forays is that Myria always makes a lot of friends. However, not all of them are very happy about Myria's endless search for happy entourages. Melfice certainly doesn't seem all that eager to be friends with anyone, and that makes the goddess very sad. But, as usual, she has just the right tool to fix antisocial losers: even if Melfice's evasion makes Myria's attacks not very useful this time around, her Big Crash spell gets around that little factor very easily. And the insane difference in durability between the nigh-immortal goddess and the frail Horn of Valmar will mean that she'll end the battle long before Melfice even dents her noticeably. It's pretty simple, but it works!

Another rematch. It's not surprising that a Godlike as successful as Melfice is fighting someone who he's battled before - he's done it successfully before against Virgil, Ramirez, and Genevieve. What makes this different is who he's facing - Myria, perhaps the most dangerous Godlike in the league and one of the few who has claimed victory over the Horn. Psychotic rage and the demonic power of Valmar lets him put up a fight against Myria, and the chance to avenge himself will fuel his sword. Evasion means Myria will have extreme trouble hitting Melfice without using her weak or limit magic - and we all have seen how well limit bosses work against breakneck speed and power that is Melfice's trademark.

Melfice can: Battle Myria 3, and get his sword and Regenrator destroyed by Siricco and Holocost and go down swinging. Or he can battle Myria 1, and evade her physical with ease- well, he can. His accessories have no such protection. The sword's immunity to physicals does him no good, Myria 1 would much rather deal with Wailing Soul Slash than Quake and put up with Melfice constantly healing himself with the regenerator. Or he could go all out, kill the other parts of Valmar, and then battle against the titanic power of Merged Myria.

The only problem there is that turning into a giant Horn is likely to get the wrong kind of reaction from Myria and will get him dragged off to a fate worse than death. Methinks Melfice will take his chances with Myria 3 .
