Season 1, Week 3
Kefka
(Final Fantasy VI)

Kefka comes into this match with a large number of advantages over Decus. For one, he is faster, easily outspeeding any PC in his game. For another, his staying power is superior, as he has typical (i.e. high) final boss HP compared to Decus's rather paltry total (though it's still very good). In terms of attack power, Kefka at least holds his own, as his devastating Havoc Wing will hit Decus hard, even with his high physical defense. Kefka's Ultima and Train spells are sure to be of great utility in this battle as well. This battle should be a cake-walk for the clown.

There are few who so aptly embody their elemental alignment as Decus does. This Wise Man is fast, powerful, and leaves a trail of destruction in his wake. While he has some decent attacks, what he is truly known for is his very powerful Spicule attack which is unavoidable, and very painful. Decus is 1-D, however, and that could hurt him against Kefka's much greater variety. Still, Decus has great endurance for a non-final boss, and his attacks DO hurt.

Neither of these men could ever be said to enjoy taking punishment. Decus' voice-clips when he gets hurt make this obvious for him, and Kefka does have a tendency to run away at the first sign of trouble. So, rather than exchange punishing Havoc Wings and Spicules until one badly bashed-up madman emerged victorious, they instead decided to settle their differences with a contest of scary voice acting.

Decus went first. "I will burn you to the bone!" he screeched in his trademark insane hyperactive Wise Man voice. "Hey, it's HOT! Oh, it's so hot I'm going to die!" And finally, he finished up with an imitation of his death scream, which caused more than a few spectators to flee the arena in terror.

Kefka, however, was not flustered. He simply smiled at Decus.

Then let out his legendary 16-bit Kefka laugh.

Decus raised the white flag.

It was only later he learned that his opponent had only that one voice-sample. By then, though, Kefka was off to the semi-finals.

Kefka: 17
Decus: 2

Decus began the battle by showing his impressive firepower with his trademark attack, Spicule. Kefka, never one to be outdone, showed off his preferred way of commiting firey death, and hit Decus with a blast from his Light of Judgement.
