Season 50, Week 3
Valvalis
(Final Fantasy IV)

The Ravaging Gale swiftly dispatched a pathetic Seifer cronie - now, it's time for an actual fight! Although Vandesdelca, for all his pomp and circumstance, isn't all that much of a challenge compared to that trash. His sword swings and shoddy spells may spiritedly try, but they certainly can't break through Valvalis' spinning, and the Fiend's blistering speed adds up to much more than Van's middling footsies. Not to mention that Valvalis' evade should be quite useful to make Van's Mystic Artes, his only truly frightening source of offense, rather useless - after all, you can't kill what you can't touch. The egomaniac may try and try, but his paltry skill will not be able to break through the fierce gales of the great Fiend of Wind!

Vandesdelca Musto Fende. If that name doesn't scream style and power, then perhaps watching the raw devastation wrought by his Mystic Artes will prove enlightening. You'll have a chance to see just that in the arena. Van's target practice dummy this time, Valvalis the wind fiend, is more suited to fighting status vulnerable PCs than status-immune bosses with overkill damage. The wind vixen's spinning trick may serve to deter Van's lesser attacks, but Negative Gate will have no issues blasting her into smaller pieces, to say nothing of what happens when his gimmick-crushing Celestial Elegy and Imperial Slaughter come out to play. The one who seeks glory is going to live up to his name in the DL, and a paltry fiend isn't going to be able to hold him off for long at all.

Vandalesca Musto Fende.

Master strategist, incredible plotter and one of the strongest warriors alive...

...?

---

Valvalis laughed maniacally.

Surely this fool could never strike her whilst she spun!

No one could! He was doomed!

Doo-

----

Van's Celestial Elegy caught Valvalis dead on, perfectly flattening her in one simple blow.

Van stared blankly for a moment, wobbling a bit.

And then, Van fell over.

---

"And that's why you don't stare too closely at a spinning object." Jade shrugged, chuckling.

"...Did he say 'Just as planned.' before falling over?" Luke muttered to himself. "I mean...that...never mind, I'm not thinking about this."

Sometimes an inaccurate attack can get lucky.

Or sometimes you can make your own luck, if you know these things.

Which of these is true with Van?

Who knows.
