Season 5, Week 5
Fou-Lu
(Breath of Fire IV)

Fou-lu has fought his way to finals for the 2nd season in a row. In the past 7 matches he fought, he fought an Arch Fiend, a Powerful Magician, a fellow Silver Haired Baddy, a Goddess, his other half, his preddeccessor, and Sword Magess. Now, he goes against another Silver Haired baddy who is very much like him in many ways. Both the God Emperor and the Magic Emperor haev phenomonal defense and HP, both are strong by thier own right. And interestingly enough, Fou-lu is one of the fwe who can hold back his anger better than Ghaleon himself. Fou-lu as most of Ghaleon's Opponents has the Edge in Speed, helping him break down the Chaos Shield. And with Sanctuary, breaking down the Shield should be pretty easy followed by his trade Mark Dark Wave. Matching Ghaleon Defensivly, and beating him in Speed and Damage, Fou-lu's 2nd God Like Championship in a row should be just over the Horizon.

A rematch long in the making is now a finals match in the RPGDL. Ghaleon lost to Fou Lu many seasons ago in the old RPGP, and is now facing the Dragon God once again. Chaos Shield will be invaluable in this match as it will force Fou Lu to use his turn by casting Sanctuary to dispel it (If such as spell can even be dispelled), while Ghaleon can use Hell Wave as his second action to slowly whittle away his opponent's HP. His only fear will be the occasional double turn, which won't happen too frequently given Fou Lu's average speed. Once Dark Wave has been reduced to managable damage, Ghaleon can quickly mop up the Dragon God with double castings of Hell Wave. Should Fou Lu opt for his True Astral form, Ghaleon can win through pure brawling with his vastly superior damage. In either case, Ghaleon is well setup to claim the title of Godlike Champion.

Comments:Ghaleon's greatest asset isn't his elemental damage, which will do extra damage. It isn't his outstanding staying power, which rivals Fou-Lu's own. It isn't Chaos shield, which forces Fou-Lu to dispell it every round. It's his greatest weapon, and the one Fou-lu truly can't stop.

It's the fact that he isn't Fou-Lu. Fans, fighters.. it's all the same. They want to see the Dragon God fall. The extra support they give Ghaleon will be enough to put the Magic Emperor on top. Truly, he'll be godlike's Dragon Master..

Fou-Lu: 9
Ghaleon: 12

Sir Alex
I don't buy Dark Wave focusing. I don't buy Fou-Lu getting constant doubleturns, even though his speed is above average. I do, however, buy Fou-Lu dealing mad damage in Astral form. He's got a high critical rate physical that OHKO's average durability PCs, and Earthbreaker and Catastrophe, the strongest magic attacks in the game. Yet still, Ghaleon has the Chaos Shield, which he'll have up every turn, so Fou-Lu can only damage him on his rare doubleturns, right? ... wrong. See that Earthbreaker, and that Catastrophe? They're multiple hits, which means that they both break and get some damage through the Shield each (or every other, depending on interpretation) round. Combine that with the pain that shall come on the doubleturns, and the fact that Ghaleon won't be doing too much damage by having to recast the Shield, and Fou-Lu wins this damage race.
