Season 48, Week 2
Gilder
(Skies of Arcadia)

Smooth, suave *and* bearer of a freakin' cool gun (much cooler than Claude's, even)? Mmm, good times for Gilder indeed. The prettyboy pirate's reputation has taken a beating in recent seasons, with many accusing him of being unworthy of the division. But that's a heap of nonsense. Gilder's going to disprove this by challenging one of the best in the division and taking him down with the usual mix of Quika and defensive tactics, all leading up to a fatal chain of Gunslingers. Ensign Kenni can Mirror Slice till he's blue in the face, but he'll never match the elegance of Gilder's ranged game and charming smile.

While the Warrior of Light may be a bit excessive to Claude, the ensign has handled far better opponents than a lecherous sky pirate. With his Eternal Sphere and high-powered Killer Moves, Claude is quite a dynamo in quickdraw swordfighting. That’s too bad for Gilder, whose poor speed and SP reliance means that he needs to take several turns to build any sort of offense, defense or... anything, really. While Gilder is busy charging or casting support spells, Claude will be tearing him to pieces. Gunslinger probably still isn’t enough to take out Claude in a single shot anyway, making things even easier for Kenni.

Outgunned: The story of Gilder's life. He has a pirate ship, not too bad. Vyse has an armada of badass pirate ships complete with his two slavishly devoted female crewmembers. He brings a powder gun? Claude brings a 27th century phase gun, complete with the mythos- Claude after all is the one who saves the Eternal Sphere from Indalecio's madness. Gilder may look good when he gets his one puny shot off, but the counterfire.. well, there's a reason why Gilder is a lover and not a fighter.
