Season 46, Week 2
Tai Ho
(Suikoden Series)

Contrary to popular belief, fishing isn't all white whales and drunken nights of singing "Louie, Louie". In fact, it's quite boring most of the time. That's why Tai Ho needs the arena to add some excitement into his life. After over twenty seasons on the bench, he's aching to ready up the ol' harpoon and spear some hapless small fry. Well, small fry is right as he gets his chance with Chat, the ferocious, gun-toting little tyke from Eternia. Tai Ho can strike hard, though, and Chat's little gun is little more than a pelt. Shouldn't be too hard to send that girl packing, right? A little range disadvantage is nothing for a big bad fisherman.

You'd think this kind of match is rather odd, but, here in the DL, the oddity tends to be the norm. The pirate Chat is facing a foe that is very unlike herself and actually not so (however that works out). Both are respected sailors of sorts who have helped the heroes out and fought alongside them for the greater good. However, Chat looks like a stereotypical pirate girl and Tai Ho is just a drunken bum. Oh well, being drunk just means it's that much easier to knock the guy down, and since there's no cute animals in sight, NOTHING will stop Chat from taking her wide array of hammers and smacking Tai Ho until he's down. That should be easy.

Tai Ho's fighting style doesn't worry much about defense, instead focusing on brutal critical hits powered by his own luck and a handy Killer Rune attached to his right arm. If Tai Ho was risky, Chat was breathtaking in her approach. Relying on the all or nothing Eternal Hammer to win her fights was a gamble, but if she connected and unloaded every single hit of Eternal Hammer it was DEATH for her foes.

Alonso knew a good bet when he saw one. Chat's style was a little risky, but hey, she was a former Middle and a powerful fighter on top of being a ship captain, a sure sign of a badass. It's not like a Suiko scrub would match that. So what if Alonso hadn't met the pair? It didn't matter, it was money in the bank. Alonso quickly bet the most valuable thing he had at his disposal. Well, not his, but close enough...

Alonso took his seat with joy, feeling that the millions in cash he had bet on the fight would pay off. A small boy in a hat stood in the arena, with zero fanfare. Clearly someone who had no chance of a good showing, let alone winning. No matter. Ahh, there was his fighter staggering to the ring now. He had a spear in one hand, a drink in the other hand, and had a captain's sigil on his tunic. Several angry looking men and women followed him to the ring, yelling at him to win the fight so he could pay back his drinking and gambling debts. He looked and smelled like an everyday fighting man, one who would easily crush his foe. Alonso would have to buy him a drink or four with a tiny fraction of his winnings.

Wait, HIM?!?!

A hard look at the 'boy' in the middle of the arena.. earring. A soft face. Eye shadow.
Oh HELL.
