Season 42, Week 4
Arc Eda Ricolne
(Arc the Lad Collection)

A hero defeating a villain. Is there anything more noble, more inspiring, more right? Well, it isn't nearly as pretty when the villain is angsting over his inability to do anything at all and the meaninglessness of his existence and so on and so forth. Gets emo on the clothes and spoils brilliant poses with the utter power of whine. Sync may be a god-general, may have the ability to overkill things twice over once he gets going, and may be able to whine it up like an emo Suikoden wind mage, but he lacks one critical thing: The ability to stop Arc from putting up Invincible. Once Arc is square away under his shield, Sync can do nothing but bemoan his fate (as he always does). Harrowing Gale doesn't mean anything to someone who takes no damage from it, and since Sync can't use that until late in the fight he will get to learn the hard way what happens when you go up against a hero. Or maybe it's the easy way since Sync wants to die? Eh, moral dilemmas for later.

The humanity! Is there no one who can end the poor, tortured replica's suffering? Poor Sync has tried to die - two weeks of fighting, he's come out on top. What is wrong with this world!? Why will no one defeat him?! The terrible Tempest must simply resign himself to defeating every foe he faces until one manages the deed. The Oracle Knight Sync has a large arsenal of tricks, but Arc isn't exactly short on them himself. Sadly, Invincible won't last long enough to protect Arc from Sync's massive onslaught of martial arts techniques, and Arc's pathetic healing won't be of much use once Sync lands a Gravity Well or Cyclone Blaze on him. Of course, even if Sync gives Arc the chance, the hero will still lose - a single Akashic Torment or Harrowing Gale will crush Arc the instant his Invincible wears out. What a horrible existence - even a legendary hero can't kill the poor replica. A sad state of affairs, but perhaps in the finals, Sync will finally find his release.

Sync was confused.

His opponent had wandered into the arena, called him a "angsting, infantile idiot", had proceeded to tackle him and start punching him.

What the hell was wrong with him?

Sync was still wondering this when he was punched unconcious.

If Sync has a flaw, perhaps it's thinking about himself too much. (Well, Sync has more than a few flaws. But perhaps one is that.)

---

Arc roared in triumph, as his opponent exploded into a cascade of blue orbs.

Arc, recognizing his true calling and Sync's vaguely similar name, collected the glowing ball after Sync's death and gained Sync's power!

His mighty Angst Blazer shall consume all!

---

Kukuru is still wondering where her sake all went.

It was four gallons! No one could have drank that much!

Of course, no one did. Arc accidentally spilled most of it, got depressed and drank the remaining few glasses to help relax him, a few hours before the match.

Boy just can't hold his liquor.
