Season 40, Week 3
Guy Cecil
(Tales of the Abyss)

It's a battle for the ages this week in Middle. A pair of healing, swordusing Tales characters battle it out. It's a very even fight and is sure to test Guy's skills and toughness. While Guy possesses superior speed and movement to Rutee and an edge in raw swordsmanship, it's more than made up by Rutee's much stronger healing and attack spells. It'll be a touch and go fight all the way through the match, requiring perfect strikes and timely use of Center to keep Guy afloat against his opponent's skills. If he can keep his health up and keep up pressure on Rutee, it should be a win. Regardless of that, it's going to be a hell of a fight, and one no Tales fan should miss.

The brash thief and the noble protector may be opposites personality wise, but they share some striking similarities as duelers. Both can unleash decent physical damage off a plentiful TP source, both are relatively quickly, and both have healing. Of course, Rutee’s full healing is 5 times more effective than Guy’s center, and she also has a full complement of buffs and debuffs to both increase the damage she does and reduce the damage she takes. Both fighters may be swordmasters, but Guy’s puny blade can’t stand up the magical might of the Water Swordian Atwight. It may not be a quick match, by any means, but her healing will ensure Rutee wins in the end.

Slash, counterslash. Parry, block. Spell, evasion. Healing, healing.

The two Tales swordspeople were evenly matched in most respects. While Rutee had a definite edge in magic and Bloody Rose matched anything Guy could do for raw offense, the noble from Hud's speedy combos kept her on edge. It was a brutal grinding fight, and one that was slowly favoring Guy. Till the worst thing that could have happen occured- Guy's sword sliced off Rutee's top, leaving her completely exposed.

But to the surprise of *EVERYONE*, Guy didn't so much as flinch, and kept on pressing his attack. Rutee managed to twist out of the way even so, and knocked Guy back with a kick to the ribs.

"Hey, you perv! Why'd you cut off my top!?!"

"Huh? Oh, didn't notice, sorry. You look just like Leon shirtless does. I'm normally bothered by girls you see and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh MY ARMS!"

It's hard to use a patented two sword style of attacking when one's arms have been ripped off.

Lesson for the day: Never say a swordgirl looks like Leon.
