Fallen from the Heavens: Too heavy to be a god
~SnowFire

The Heavy-Godlike barrier is a porous one. Some, like Queen Zeal, flit back and forth as the Black Omen floats through time, neither in one nor the other. Others such as Miss Harken taste Godlike but for a brief moment before descending to cruel reality...

Dehuai idly drummed his fingers on the table. "So. You were kicked out of Godlike? Any explanation for this?"

Wugui deeply bowed and scraped a bit. "Uh, sorry, boss. Won't happen again."

"Completely unacceptable. You'll have to do better than this if our plans are to succeed." Dehuai did his best to suppress a bit of a smile. He could boss Wugui around again now that they were both in Heavy. The fact that he’d never been ranked higher than that at all still grated. "Who's this gentleman you brought back with you?"

Roufas's cool gaze and easy pose gave away nothing. "Roufas of Koorong. Rosa took me by surprise in the pools...I hand out ass-kickings, not take them. She won't get me a second time."

Dehuai shifted. "So... she got you, too? I mean... not that she ‘got’ me in any sense. I was completely in control! This isn't over yet! Now if only we had some way of reaching her..."

At that moment, a gust of wind blew through the tower, and an envelope floated through the air before landing at Wugui’s feet.

"Give me that!" Dehuai shouted.

Enjoying your time in Heavy? I hope so, since you'll be there for some time! I just thought you might be interested in knowing that now I have Rosa tied up and at my mercy. Soon my Giant Orb of Doom shall crush her completely…so sorry to deny your little crusade.

If you wish to whine, our complaints department is at the Tower of Zot.

"That... that jumped-up Fiend! Robbing me of my chance at recovering my dignity by taking Rosa herself! This cannot stand." Dehuai turned and started packing, ignoring the odd looks on Wugui & Roufas's faces. "Come on, you two. We're going."

"Uh... boss, there's an octopus up in the rafters. Should we do anything?"

"W-w-w-wait!" Ultros interjected. "I saw the message as it was being delivered, and I want in. Let me come."

"Why, exactly?" the master sorcerer of Shanghai asked.

"Come on. Dropping heavy things from above is my shtick; it's no fair for her to steal it. You’re going to salvage your honor, right? Well, I want some back, too. I won't try to take over your little evil operation, and you could probably use the help. Who else are you going to get? Cardinal Simon? Galcian? I'll remain your lovable sidekick, squid’s honor."

"You have a... point. Well, we'll need some kind of distraction. Come on, I suppose…but remember! I'm the leader here. We follow my plan."

Tower of Zot

The Tower of Zot was an impressive sight, sparkling almost as brightly as the Black Omen in the midsummer dawn. After an easy airship ride to the service entrance, there was still an arduous climb through the tower to deal with, but the epic team of Dehuai, Wugui, Roufas, and Ultros cleared out the random-monstery opposition without too much trouble. It was mostly minor Aesir brought in from Valhalla. Not really that godlike after all – even Ultros was handling them with ease.

When they reached the tower, they found the deathtrap, just as promised: Rosa, bound, gagged and tied to a rock slab, and a deadly weight hovering overhead, ready to crush her.

Dehuai didn’t waste any time. He ran toward the damsel-in-distress, determined to kill her before anyone else could.

"Now! Revenge shall be miiiiiiiiiiiiii...," he cried, as Rosa casually pulled the lever next to her and the floor dropped away under his feet.

"Don’t tell me he found the invitation?" cooed Valvalis. "Has-beens are bad enough, but never-beens were certainly not invited." Rosa sat up and shrugged off her “restraints,” an impish grin on her face as the gag fell away.

Wugui merely giggled a bit. "Ha! I knew the letter was for me the whole time!" Roufas, thinking the matter through a little more, staggered backward. "But... wait... what? Aren't you two supposed to be enemies? This doesn't make any sense. Why are you working together?"

A red-haired male(?) casually revealed himself from behind a pillar. "Well, well. I suppose this is where I make my dramatic speech about being a traitor to your ranks, but you’d have to be even dumber than I thought not to know that already. Honeys? Time to remind these gentlemen and gentlecephalpods of their proper place."

There was shocked silence. Cecil wasn't going to be very happy about this, but other issues pressed... "For our honor – crush them!" Ultros bellowed.

"Also, I'm in charge now."

  • The Godlikes-turned-Heavies regain some dignity and defeat the upstarts. But they're still in Heavy.
  • Heavies-turned-Godlikes Zelos, Valvalis, and Rosa remind why they fell from Godlike in the first place.

Wheezing from his advanced age, Dehuai stopped to catch his breath in the closet he ducked into. The fall had been designed not to kill him, but merely to deposit him downstairs in the Tower for capture. He had only barely escaped Cecilia, KOS-MOS, and another shadowy upgraded Godlike, but he'd evaded them! So far. His foolish cohorts were certainly defeated by now... so how to escape? Their airship had surely been confiscated, and the Tower was quite high in the heavens. He could try and contact Cardinal Simon... but no. There had to be a better option. Maybe some spare vehicle they had lying about... perhaps in the maintenance bay mentioned on the map? Worth a shot. Dehuai picked up his cane, and carefully checking the hallway, scuttled off toward it.

...except... that airship was already leaving? And... that was Ultros at the helm?! "Wait! Stop! How'd you survive without me? And let me on that thing!"

"Oh, we had a fun time playing the Game of Death. Rosa plays a mean game of checkers, but she isn't as good at that. Roufas chipped in, too. We're blowing this joint now, though, before any second wind boss forms chip in. Feel like joining the Ultros Gang? We'll getting our own custom leather jackets designed!"

"...joining?! I'm your boss?"

"I'll take that as a no, then. Can't be having any leadership struggles... and we're casting off!"

Dehuai turned in horror as the sounds of a very annoyed Zelos and his new harem arriving to answer the sounding klaxons set off by the escaping airship. Unluckily for Dehuai, they had someone to work out their frustrations on right there...

Team Wugui: 25
Team Zelos: 18

Lezard Valeth
Zelos, Valvalis and Rosa just use their strongest attack on the four of them, reducing them to ash in mere seconds.

Lesson learned, know yourselves and your enemy before charging blindly ahead. Or you could just give up before hand.

Rosa and Zelos are NOT Godlikes. the Heavies win. And then Lezard Valeth comes and talks about how he has been in every division. Then Hrist Valkyrie and Lezard beat up the heavies. Hrist wins.
