Season 36, Week 2
Shania
(Shadow Hearts: From the New World)

With a body built for sin and crimson eyes burning with vengeful fire, the master Harmonixer Shania finally makes her DL debut! Already, she’s looking forward to an epic confrontation with her true enemy Lady, but first she must defeat the ever popular Tenkai Star Tir. Her soul bathed in the powers of Darkness itself, the master Harmonixer has little to fear from Tir’s Soul Eater. With an innate Darkness resistance and a Leonardo’s Bear, Shania can neuter both of her opponent's main attack methods. And as soon as she gets a turn, her Dream Porter will allow her to doubleact Tir into oblivion. No one will stop Shania from reaching the object of her obsession - let alone another darkness dabbler.

The first Tenkai Star makes his record-breaking eighth appearance in the halls of the Duelling League, carrying an impressive array of glories (and a few blunders). Can he overcome the competition this time, after coming so close to winning a Godlike championship a couple of times? Fortunately for him, there are no uber-powerful dragons involved in this match, just a very scantily clad woman who happens to turn into monsters. No problem for the sly (if silent) lady-killer, right? Tir will bring about pain in the form of one very powerful Judgment spell, and with multiple castings, killing Shania really shouldn’t be much of an issue. Will we FINALLY get to see Godlike champion Tir this time? He certainly hopes so.

To the surprise of the entire arena, Tir vs Shania wasn't bloody. It wasn't brutal. Hell, it barely happened.

Tir calmly walked into the arena, attached a scroll to his rune, and fired off a Deadly Fingertips. Instead of a blast of Instant Death magic, a wall of stone quickly encased Shania and knocked her out before the fight began.

Even more surprising was Tir running as fast as possible out of the arena after the match, with a rather pissed off looking Royce hot on his heels.

Shania: 34
Tir McDohl: 35

Tir McDohl eats through PCs like acid through cardboard. Deadly Fingertips, if the target can be hit with auto-death, works, period, no ifs, ands, or buts. It's more effective than Nina II(Breath of Fire II)'s Death spell. And, like all the best Suikoden mages, Tir is fast like a ninja.

No, you can't make the "Leonardo's Bear" argument since it's an equippable item that anyone can wear- not kosher for the Duelling League. And though Dark affinity wouldn't HURT in this case, it doesn't actually PREVENT auto-death. Harmonixer or no, you kind of NEED a Leonardo's Bear to be certain that auto-death won't be working on you.
