Season 4, Week 3
Zio
(Phantasy Star 4)

Zio faces a tall, tall order in Fou-Lu this week. The Dragon God Fou-Lu can match Zio stat for stat, and even surpass Zio's famous Black Wave attack with his own Dark Wave attack. How can Zio win, then? Simple. Once he unloads his Dark Wave attack, Fou-Lu's own counter Wave attack will be greatly weakened. At that point, Zio simply has to manage his HP, and hope to outslug one of the nastiest godlikes in the RPGDL.

Ah, Fou-Lu, the better half of the Yorae Dragon. Fou's physical defenses are incredible...though, when facing a mage, this is hardly the most important thing. Both of his forms are good choices for this, however; His Tyrant form has incredibly high damage potential in his Dark Wave, and still has fairly good attacks to fall back when his HPs, on which his breath is based, run down. True Astral, on the other hand, doesn't have the same sheer power, but it keeps it's strength up throughout, and has such nasty attacks as his high, non-elemental Power Flux, his incredible critical hit rate physical attacks. And he even the ability to negate Zio's Magic Barrier with Sanctuary, if Zio decides to break the rules about plot attacks...

Zio works for Dark Force who is the spawn of Profound Darkness, which you could call some god.

Fou-lu is a god.

Therefore, the instant Zio walks in, Fou-lu immidiatly starts playing with his mind and forcing him to do his own bidding, in this case, hitting himself with his own Black Wave, since see, to Zio, a "dark force" isn't any different than THE Dark Force, and Fou-lu has all the dark energy he needs to make Zio his slave.

...Or there's just the fact that Dark Wave hurts a lot more than Zio's Black Wave, and that Fou-lu is Faster and More Durable. That works too...
