Season 35, Week 2
Domingo
(Shining Force)

The cute floating octopus Domingo is back! Fallen from Heavy, the Freeze-casting, Death-slinging creature is ready to take back his pride and start showing people that Shining Force can shine in the RPGDL! For Domingo's opening bout, he's got an easy match - Selma, yet another Suikoden elf, is far from the most dangerous foe in Middle, and wouldn't be too tough in Light either. While her Water Rune could pose a threat to less capable squid-things, Selma suffers from several factors that prevent her from taking advantage of it: she's slower, she's magically frail, and she'd never hurt something as cute as Domingo! Thus, this battle's a cinch - fire off a Desoul, collect victory. Domingo's excellent magical resilience protects him from Selma's Breath of Ice, and his also excellent physical resilience prevents Selma's pathetic sword strikes from breaking his tough outer shell. Even if Selma should activate Silent Lake, it'll do her no good - she won't be able to kill something so cute as Domingo in time, and once the spell wears off, she can kiss her soul bye-bye!

Most elves do not make their home on a small island. Most elves do not sport a tank-like build and wield a two-handed greatsword. Most elves do not act as the voice of reason in racial attritions. But Selma, the jade-haired warrior lady from Na-Nal, is a far cry from most elves. Facing off against an opponent even odder than herself, she will make a memorable arena debut! Domingo may be a floating jellyfish mage, but the only part of that description that matters to Selma is "mage", meaning her Silent Lake spell will make short work of Domingo's entire skillset and reduce this to a contest of physical might - a contest where Selma's crushing blade is of far greater value than Domingo's unarmed slaps. Even should Selma fail to kill the low-vitality spell-slinger before the Lake's effects wear off, she has little to fear, as Domingo's damaging Freeze spells are easily healed by her Water Rune, while his Desoul's accuracy is infamously bad. Selma's going to make Domingo look like a radiate out of water... after she drowns him in a lake, that is.

This match seems too familiar...

Creature with Tentacles against a female warrior.

...thankfully, this fight did not go anywhere near the realm of what is normal for this situation, as it simply ended in Domingo dying instantly from suffocation. Hey, being out of water THAT long is going to eventually catch up to you if you're a jellyfish, even if you a special one.

Domingo: 25
Selma: 26
