Treasure Hunt of Doom
~Gatewalker

Ramza was impressed. For all that she seemed really immature and childish sometimes, this Lorelai girl had her head on straight when it came to dungeon crawling. After agreeing to take her to the Deep Dungeon as a favor to Delita, Ramza had finally assembled a respectable team. Rikku, Guy, Lorelai and Popoi should cover the young Beoulve's handiwork needs. And he had spent the last week planning and supplying for a seriously dangerous mission. And forgetting any essential components for their trip is -not- an option.

Going down the list, Ramza did an equipment check.

“Rikku, you have a stock of Al Bhed Potions and Mixing items?”

“Yup yup yup, I’m all set!”

“Alright then. Guy, you’ve got spare swords, including a Lancereaver? I don’t want you useless against anything down there, we’ll need everything we’ve got.”

“Killer, Silver, Lancereaver and a Wo Dao I had Matthew swipe from Karel.”

“…right. If Karel comes looking for us, I’m letting him have you. Anyway, Popoi, you have enough Fairy Nuts, in case your magic draining doesn’t work?”

“I think you mean Fairy Walnuts, boss. And yeah, I’ve got those too.”

Lorelai rolled her eyes at the mischievous sprite. “More than we needed to know, pipsqueak. All right, we all set? Let's get this show on the road, then. I’ve got information that there are Sindar relics in that Deep Dungeon of yours, and I plan to get them before Zweig or Killey does. We get in, avoid fights if we can, get the artifacts and get out - can't get any more straight-forward than that. Any questions?”

Rikku and Popoi shot their hands up almost simultaneously. “Ooh, what about any other treasures we find?”

“Yeah, you just want that Sindar stuff, right?”

Ramza sighed: he could tell this was going to be a long mission, and for reasons your average pilgrim wouldn't expect... “We split anything else up evenly, after we get out. Any more questions?", followed by a long, stern look around the room. Only silence was met. "No? All right... let us go.”

- - -

Moments later, after Lorelai’s team had left their meeting room, a man in red slipped in and picked up a voice recorder he had planted there earlier. Playing it back, he snorted. “Hmph... so that’s what she’s up to. That girl is going to pay for selling me out. Those relics are mine, and I’ll bury her in that dungeon. Just need to find some fools to help me out…”

- - -

Justin was nodding as the nice man in red explained the situation, his usual chipperness being taken by a frown of indignation. “So, this Lorelai is trying to get these artifacts so her master can take over the whole League?”

Killey nodded back ominously. ”Yes. And I can’t stop her alone - I need help. Naturally, I thought of the most famous adventurers in the world first.”

Feena jumped up and grinned vainly. “Of course you did! But, wouldn’t it just be easier to go beat up this Delita guy instead of chasing Lorelai into Deep Dungeon?”

Shaking his head, Killey quickly killed that line of questioning. “Then she would just use the artifact for herself. We need to get it away from her.”

“Oooh, right. Wow, you’re smart Mr. Killey. Yeah, c’mon Justin, let’s go!”

  • Lorelai and Ramza’s team find the Sindar relics before Killey finds them
  • Killey has his revenge, swiping the relics and trapping Lorelai in the Dungeon
  • Justin and Feena realize that they’re being duped and turn on Killey
  • There are no Sindar relics, Lorelai’s information was wrong
  • The Deep Dungeon is too much to handle. Rocks fall, everybody dies. Just like D&D!

The battle was horrific.

Blood, everywhere. People gasping for air, choking, crying as the very life was rended from their bodies.

They all had made it so far. As far as Mlapan.

And then the roots...the leaves...the horrific cries...the endless forces...

And so, this bonus comes to an end at the hands of the murderous Trents.

This carnage, as horrible as it is, has indeed sated their vicious thirst for human life, their roots draining the last of the blood from Killey's body, the last to be caught and viciously slaughtered by them...it was enough to keep even the most voracious Woodman sated.

For now.

But who will there be to protect us when they hunger again?

Pray that you will die before that day. Before the Taiju walk the lands once more.

And remember these brave warriors gratefully, with every remaining breath you take.

Sadly for Killey, the Aura of Idiocy that so plagued Rune for seasons on end had finally come into play elsewhere. As Killey hides in the Deep Dungeon, watching those that Delita had hired, he is mistaken for a random monster by none other...than Justin and Feena.

...Next time, Killey, try to make sure whoever you dupe isn't absolutely immune to any level of plotting whatsoever.
