Season 33, Week 3
Malik Benedict
(Wild Arms 3)

Some people say he has an Oedipus Complex. Others simply euphemize it as "mommy issues". Regardless of the motivations behind his drive to fight, Malik is a damned good contender, as shown by his five consecutive victories, the most recent over the beloved leader of the Zexen Knights Chris Lightfellow. This week, the Prophet meets an opponent who is as twisted as himself; the Lord of the Undead, Brahms. Brahms, much like many of the opponents on Mr. Benedict’s miracle run, is a pure physical fighter! What luck indeed, that the prophet could stumble on such beautiful luck. This spells good news, and may such fortune keep up in his run!

Finally, a victory in Godlike for the lord of the undead! But after all he's been through, his thirst has not yet been slaked. Oh, definitely not. Next, he will put an end to Malik's dreadful run. But Malik, with his perfect evasion, can shut down Brahms completely, right? Ha, if such wasn't a poor fallacy! Blood Rain, a new tool in Brahms's aresenal from his most recent incarnation, gives him just the little bit of magic damage he needs to pull off this victory. With immunity to all of Malik's status tricks, excellent durability, and the ability to repair it by draining health with brutal slashes and lunges, Brahms is about to show why Malik isn't going to be able to take him down. It'll be a long process, but Brahms doesn't tire or give up!

Tide
The prophet snickered as he watched his foe swing wildly. With no means of bypassing his evasion, the lord of the undead was simply unable to even damage Malik. The match had taken a long time, but he knew it was about to come to an end. Brahms looked exhausted from the combination of his weak Eliminate Scanners.

" It seems as if I am the winner, Lord Brahms. You know you cannot even hurt me. Why waste the effort?"

" Fool! Do not claim victory as it has not been yours yet!"

Malik laughed a grandiose laugh. And perhaps the next minute of events happened just to spite him. As he prepared another small magical burst on the vampire, the sent-careening-into-space Arngrim finally crashlanded. Right on top of the prophet. Turns out that the full force of his landing was enough to also crush Malik despite his ethereal like form. Although Brahms was originally declared the victor, the lord of the undead did not accept as the match only ended from an outside interference. Malik was set to proceed to the next round. Well, as soon as he recovers from the injuries.

Meanwhile, Sezter in one of the rooms of the Falcon, proceeded to check off "Profit off a declined miracle win" from the list of things he needs to bet against before dying.

Vampires (Well, Brahms probably isn't technically a vampire really, he does seem to require blood or fear sunlight or anything, but really he's close enough) are by nature tragic creatures. Cursed life and all that, you know. Indeed, Brahms has proved that chance despises his existance time and again in the DL, a perfect losing record (until an unlucky gun-wielding Priest anyway) despite impenetrable defenses and one of the most feared attacks in the League in Bloody Curse. Even here, after his first DL triumph, he faces a man he cannot even hit.
The upshot, though, is that unlike so many other places, the DL actually has an active social scene for the undead. Faced with a match he couldn't win anyway, it shouldn't be surprising that Brahms took the chance to visit a fashionable club, reportedly with a beautiful coven mistress on one arm and a certain young goddess on the other.
As fate would have it, though, Malik didn't show up to the match either. Apparently, the obsessed prophet is busily tracking down the real Emigre Document, and can't be bothered with such trivialities as the DL. As often is the case in times like this, the judges rather unceremoniously flipped a coin for it.
You can probably guess with dueller fate didn't shine on.

Namagomi
You know, after all those ATK buffs they gave Brahms, you'd think he would have utterly dominated the whole division by now.

...Instead, he faced Malik, missed with his first blow, flung himself out of the arena, into orbit, blew up several moons and planets along the way, and ultimately crashed into Ideon...

...Brahms managed to ultimately annihilate the universe with his ATK buffs.

...not that any of this changes the fact that Malik won another Godlike match.
