Season 32, Week 4
Marisa
(Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones)

Two down, two to go, and Marisa will prove that she is every bit as worthy of Heavy as Joshua. As soon as she gets this dancing…thing out of her way, that is. Shouldn’t be that hard - his clumsy attempts at spear thrusts will be easily avoided, and she has little to fear from his random dances. But Mog’s attacks never are the real threat, now are they? No, it’s his mighty defense and plentiful healing that have stopped his opponents cold in their tracks, shattering their dreams of glory. But Marisa has ways around that. The noble path of the flashing sword isn’t the only one she can walk, oh no. There is also the the swift blade which silences life and cares not for any amount of armor or healing. Where the sword cannot win, the knife of the Assassin may yet claim victory.

Kupo…po! Only four people left in this contest, and everyone’s favorite moogle is still going strong! And here comes a new challenger, the lithe and graceful Marisa, whose dancing is just as violent as Mog’s own. But as deadly and beautiful as her dance is, this little moogle can still teach her a thing or two about powerful dances. After all, when Mog dances, nature itself sits up and takes notice. Can Marisa drop rocks on your head with a quick spin? Or take just a couple of steps and bathe herself in the sun’s healing rays? No, of course not. All she can do is swing her sword around and cut people. That may have gotten her past her rhythmless foes before, but now she’s up against the master of dance-fu himself, and Mog isn’t about to let some one-trick amateur show him up.

The arena was packed to capacity for this semifinals match, which would be fought not with blades but with opera, an epic love story told through music and dance. Mog was dressed in his best tuxedo, Marisa looked stunning in her new dress, and even Maestro Cornelio and his DoReMi elves were dressed for the occasion. The lights dimmed, the music began, and the pair started to dance.

It was a dance of splendor, a heartbreaking performance that would be remembered through the ages. The crowd melted at Mog’s courtship of the noble Marisa, they wept at her plight, forced to chose between love and duty, they cried with outrage at her father’s cruel banishment of the moogle who would dare to woo his daughter, they were moved by the struggle of the two lovers who had to transcend the barriers of race to find true love. Then they were shocked and appalled as Ultros tried to drop and anvil on Marisa’s head during the climactic scene.

Hey, he just couldn’t resist, you know?

Didn’t turn out too well for him though, Marisa had somehow managed to hide her sword under the dress and sliced the anvil clean in half as it came for her. Ultros took that as his cue to make a hasty exit, but didn’t get very far. More than a few other Godlikes, including his employer Mr. Nanjo, were quite enjoying the show and most displeased with the interruption.

Ultimately the judges decided that it did not count as interference, and allowed the dance to continue. Marisa still won by the slightest of margins though, apparently the anvil cutting trick impressed the judges quite a bit, as did her subsequent working the whole incident into the story. Mog was quite impressed as well, and had no regrets with losing this one. He even managed to get Marisa’s number.

In other news, Edgar was later seen getting fitted for a moogle suit while mumbling something about moogles getting all the chicks.
