Season 28, Week 1
Kefka
(Final Fantasy VI)

Mad clowndom is back into style! With Kefka winning his second title in the DL Arena, you might think he’s pleased... and that could not be less right! There are whole new sets of weaklings to crush with his poisons and trickery. And, best of all, new god-wannabes to bring judgment to with the power of Havoc Wing! False Althena pales in comparison to Kefka's evil, insanity, and, especially, flamboyant beauty. And we all know what happens to those who oppose Kefka. That’s right. Humiliation and defeat at the hands of the master of cruelty! Kekekekekekeke!

After a long hiatus from the Godlike arena, the vain and deceiving False Althena returns eagerly to prove her worth. And she faces... a fellow fake god, one who was once liquified by her master to boot. This one may be a defending Godlike champion, but it is one she is perfectly adjusted to destroy. Superior speed wreaks havoc on Kefka's usual blitzing strategy, and excellent HP plus an incredibly powerful ray of lightning gives her every other advantage too. False Althena is in an excellent position to follow Zophar's footsteps and put Kefka down yet again.

Everyone expected a truly monumental battle, where from only one of the two titans would emerge, if that many.

Instead, they got something a bit more prosaic.

As it turns out, the Duelling League has a militantly pacifistic group inside of it, dedicated to stomping out all violence, with such greats as Lilia and Rinoa Heartlily leading the charge. (And hired Godlike muscle. That, and Lilia had the best luck ever with a Pokeball once; There's not much that can stand up against a Groudon.

On a related note, Groudon is relatively really easy to catch while drunk. He's laying off the vodka from here on out.)

And so, Kefka and False Althena were kidnapped, heavily drugged with tranquilizers, and hauled into the arena, with the general hopes that a peaceful resolution would be found.

And that's how Kefka and False Althena ended up waltzing nude under the moonlight. And the floodlights. (Arenas are always well lit, even at night. Unfortunately, in this case.)

Kefka was killed slightly slower than False Althena.

(To be honest, this was entirely bad luck on False Althena's part, really, had people been aiming instead of indiscriminately firing off massive attacks, they'd probably have aimed at Kefka. C'est la vie.)

On the upside, now pacifism in the Duelling League, as well as Rinoa and Lilia, is irrevocably linked to Kefka naked.

I predict sharp declines in the popularity of both soon. And possibly the lifespan of anyone involved with them.

Kefka: 50
False Althena: 48

Kefka is a two time godlike champ. Kefka is currently the top in ranks. Kefka is a mad clown. Kefka loses. . .in round 1.

Heh, maybe Kefka can make a joke out of it.

Kefka is a great anti-PC boss. He hits with crap that really, really sucks to get hit with and is in some ways harder to deal with than just being knocked senseless. His big weakness is the fact that he's pretty frail, though since most bosses are more hell-bent on screwing you up than blowing you out of the water, and this division is full of final bosses, this weakness is usually offset by Kefka's immunity to bad status.

False Althena has a tail laser attack that, if they fail to take SUPER EVASIVE ACTION!, kills the entire party with massive, unadulterated damage, regardless of whether or not they were defending. It always hits its target and she can use it as much as she likes. She's also immune to bad status and her attack choices aren't too great, plus she isn't a durability master, though she DOESN'T bruise in a stiff wind- distinct advantage over Kefka.

So False Althena powers up her laser tail and shoots her pointlessly powerful attack (which rivals the power of many plot powers other characters need to rely upon to rip heroes to shreds).
