Season 27, Week 4
Kefka
(Final Fantasy VI)

Kefka now faces another PC in the arena. This, of course, leads to only one conclusion: Kefka uses Havok Wing, opponent dies. While Yuri has some speed and durability to his credit, and even an angelic form to counter Kefka's, none of this changes the fact that Havoc Wing HURTS. Of course, Kefka could just fall back on Fallen One, knocking his foe's HP to one and forcing a "Heal or Die" situation. And if Yuri tries buffing himself, Kefka will just have his "revenge" by dispelling that and causing Yuri to have wasted his turn. Yet another another easy win for the Mad Clown.

Yuri's had an easy season so far. No mad warlocks, no dark gods, just normal everyday warriors. Now, however, he takes on the dancing clown, Kefka, and Yuri needs to get serious. Kefka may have powers stolen from the Goddesses themselves, but even they are no match for the full might of the Seraphic Radiance. The mighty Havok Wing will be little more than a scratch after For Everyone, and even Kefka's vaunted speed won't be able to keep up with the winged God. It's definitely time for Kefka to go down, and fighting for everyone, Yuri's just the guy to do it.

Kefka's faster than unenhanced Yuri, so Fallen One hits before Yuri can cast For Everyone. Yuri thus has to heal or die, and he isn't healing more than Kefka deals with Havoc Wing.

Kefka: 52
Yuri Volte Hyuga: 41

In the aftermath of the previous week's events, the chaos was indescribable. Arc the Lad characters winning matches, people feeling sorry for Zidane, Zidane managing to win even more, Wyrm seeing action (sort of) in the Arena... they may have to invent a new word that transcends chaos.
With all that going on, Yuri Hyuga decided it'd be a good time to finally sieze a Godlike title. He'd promised Alice one as an engagement present, and while she probably didn't care, the glares Karin gave him for not following through... well.
The reason for waiting so long was two-fold. It took some pretty outlandish events to not have Yuri beating someone like Kefka look a bit suspicious. But besides that, Yuri knew he'd need special assistance for this job, and didn't want any of the usual crowd to realize where to find his friend. No good could come from the resident pervs getting in contact with Roger Bacon.
"Ah-ha, Yuri! You're just in time. I've found what should be a worm hole leading-" "That's great Rog. Listen, I could use some help with something. Ever hear of a guy called Kefka?"
Bacon's eyes misted over in memory. "Poor Cid, that his first great breakthrough should inflict such terror and madness. Why, I remember when his first book-" "Great. So how could I beat him, by myself, without it looking like cheating."
There was a shockingly long pause. Which translated to about 10 seconds. "Yes... yes, I may just have the answer. If my theory is correct, there should be a man that can woo the powers of the Goddesses away from Kefka for you. He should even be quite willing to help." "So where do I find him?" "Well, you'll have to start in the Magic Kingdom, and from there it goes straight to Hell."
As Yuri traversed the idyllic, fuzzy pink bunny-friendly passageways of Hell, he could only shake his head. "I really shouldn't be surprised by this..." Musing aside, he finally came upon the throne room, where a blonde, arrogant-looking young man stood, bored beyond all reason. "So you're Blue, right?"
"Hmph. Looks like a beggar." "That's great. Look, I'm here to help you out. Ever hear of Esper Magic?" "That... disappeared millenia ago." "Well, it came back. I don't remember the details, something about a floating continent, but anyway, if you want I can show you to the Goddess Statues right now."
Before Yuri could blink, the ubermage had transported them to the land of Figaro. "Lead the way, ruffian."
As Yuri entered the arena, he was shocked to see Kefka already there. Guess he hasn't noticed yet he thought idly. "Ready to lose, then?" Yuri taunted jovially just before assuming the form of the Seraphic Radiance.
Kefka laughed as only he could. "The loser thinks he can win? Uhwehehehehe! Havoc Wing!" As Kefka launched his signature attack, despite all Yuri's efforts, he quietly braced for a week of pain. Then actually felt the blow and realized he instead had to fake that. Looks like that twerp did good work. Alright, time to make this look good. Leaning to one side (the winged equivelent of a limp), Yuri flew in for a dazzling array of punches, all of which probably looked damned convincing to anyone further away than the guy they were missing.
Kefka for his part didn't seem to realize he was just short of powerless. "Uhwehehehe, too slow, too slow, time to put all your ducks in a row!" The duellers went on like this for a while, but eventually Yuri noticed Kefka tiring a little and decided it was time to end the match. "This... is for the Children!" he cried, milking the cheese as much as possible, before blasting the powerless clown with his most powerful attack.
The judges too little time declaring Yuri the winner, and he promptly made his escape before people could ask too many questions. He just hoped next week would be much simpler.
In unrelated news, ubermage Blue, famed for being literally unbeatable, has been seen in the company of Terra Branford after years of conspicuous absence. Apparently, he is very interested in Espers indeed.
