Flonne
(Disgaea: Hour of Darkness)

The Power of Love is strong once again as Flonne, angel trainee and all-round love freak, returns to the arena! Today her opponent is Marcus, the mighty paladin of Pherae. It's a great opportunity to meet with such a famed and worthy warrior! But it's all so sad, because he's never had the chance to find love outside his own little world. But that's where Flonne comes in! If she can just manage to beat him in the match, Marcus will have a chance to see how beautiful and full of love the world really is! It will be a grand battle, but in the name of Love, and for the sake of a great and noble soldier's heart, Flonne shall not fail!

The war hero of Pherae, legendary Paladin and mentor to two of the nation's greatest leaders returns to the arena in a fierce battle against...a fragile little angel trainee who simply wants to preach about the "Power of Love?" Well, Marcus knows he can't back out of a fight, no matter how degrading. What he can do is make it as quick and painless as possible, and that'll be no problem with his decades of war and arena experience. After a few careful attacks, the innocent little angel will be sent out to be healed by the finest doctors in the entire Duelling League, while Marcus rides on to the next round to battle real foes.

SageAcrin
A noble paladin, facing an upstanding member of the community, a woman(?) who upholds love, truth, honor, goodness, and law it's self.

What kind of a paladin could bring himself to strike such a girl?

Marcus did the only noble thing he could do that didn't involve getting himself tickled unconcious by feathers.

He impaled Zidane from the stands and used him as a human shield to block the attacks.

This is more noble when you realize that Zidane had been preparing a fabric dissolving solution to use on Flonne. (Actually, he had been trying to find Sierra's match, but he figured this was better than nothing.)

So, while Marcus lost the battle due to interference, he upheld the high and upstanding moral values of the Duelling League.

Protect the innocent.

Be kind to others and they shall be kind to you.

Take care of small children, puppies, kittens and Rabites.

And above all else, kill Zidane.

Flonne: 46
Marcus: 44

"Eleanora..." Marcus say quietly, sitting in his room a few days before the match. "Even young Lord Eliwood and Lord Hector have married. I, who have accompanied them to face the fiery breath of the Fire Dragon without fear, still can't summon enough courage to reveal my feelings to Lady Eleanora. What kind if paladin am I if I let my fear get the best of me?"

The day of the match Flonne is standing in the ring, with a smile on her face as usual. She watches as the weary-looking paladin rides into the ring, looking depressed. She asks, "What's wrong? You seem sad." Marcus scans the crowd, and seeing that the crowd is loud enough right now not to hear his voice, and also seeing that Lady Eleanora is not amongst the crowd, he tells Flonne about his feelings for Eleanora, the Lady whom he serves, the women he lost to Lord Elbert, and mother to Lord Eliwood. Flonne listens to all of this, and sheds a single tear. "So you really have never had your love reciprocated? This is so sad...I must do something about it! Come!" she says, grabbing Marcus's hand. "This may not be a legal case, but Love-attorney Flonne can still help! Let's go to Eleanora!" And thus Flonne leads Marcus's horse out of the ring. Of course, she stepped out first. Lord Hector was seen laughing gently fromt he stands while Lord Eliwood face-palms, concerned.

Poor Flonne. A healer that can't heal herself. It's a good thing her legal career has taken off.
