Revenge is sweet, is it not? It's certainly what Sofia has in mind. Her other half, Solo, lost to Dario in one of the duelling league's first seasons. Ever since, her twin has rotted away in Heavy, while Dario has gone onto a long and noted Godlike career. So Sofia fights for more than herself when she rides off into this battle. She fights for Solo and all the warriors of the Dragon Warrior world whose honor was besmirched by Dario. She's got the tools to smash the little Dragoon who could, too. With high defense and brutally powerful elemental magic, she counters every possible trick Dario can throw out. Dario had better be prepared to be ground into dust and sent back to Heavy, because he's got no chance against the Zenthian blademaster.

 The Grand Master of the Acacia Dragoons seems to lead a cursed life. After falling under the sway of the Masamune's dark power, Dario's luck in the DL has been one misery after another, ever since upgrading to Godlike many seasons ago. But maybe things are finally turing around. Dario's fought this battle before, against Sofia's twin/alternate dimension incarnation/whatever Solo, back in that first burst of success. And nothing has changed since those happy days; Dario's assortment of counters and powerful sword techniques are just as deadly as ever, and trounce the hapless Zenethian hero with ludicrous ease. Yes, things are definitely turning around again for Dario, and Godlike had best look over its collective shoulder for this dragoon.

Dario, being a noble Dragoon, came to the ring alone to defend his honor and once again strike down a Dragon Warrior main character. Sofia, being incredibly pissed off at Dario and the general luck of the universe, brought along Luc, Alena, Solo, and Cecil, all of whom felt robbed by Dario. While the saveage beating they applied was illegal, cruel, and funny, it was also wrong. Small consolation to Dario, who's going to be lucky if he manages to even show up to his next fight.

Sometimes, things don't go your way.

Then, sometimes, you're Sofia.

Who accidentally bumped into Albedo on the way to the match.

Albedo was so enraged that the girl wouldn't even apologize that he nuked her MP.

Then she bumped into Kefka and Altima.

The DL's rough, what with being filled with homicidal maniacs.

She would have won, too, but someone sneezed on her. (After the Fallen One and Grand Cross, it was a little too much, you know.)

You see, Dario was in a mind control matchup between Zeromus, who had found a new easily controlled pet and wasn't about to give him up, and Giygas, and Zeon, and Mewtwo, and Lord Blazer, and some more villians, all of whom had much the same goals.

Needless to say, Mewtwo won, but Dario is a little worse for the wear. All he says now is "Pika.". And, of course, he didn't make it to the match.

The judges flipped a coin to decide the winner.

It landed on it's edge.

Kefka burnt the coin to slag, declared Dario the winner, and went out to nuke a village.
