History has a tendency to repeat itself. Long ago, the One-Winged Angel and the Highland Butcher squared off. And, like so many seasons ago, Sephiroth will triumph. Luca's mad blows scare lesser Godlikes, but not the high-flying Sephiroth. The Mad Prince of Highland's sword swipes will prove worthless once the perfect SOLDIER spreads his wings. From high on, the power of the Heavens can be brought down upon the heathen Highland prince, eliminating him as fast as a blink. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust - Luca shall become just that once Sephiroth's Supernova touches the battlefield.

There's nothing like a bloody, brutal rematch to lend flavor to a Godlike belt. The butcher of the Highlands was barely bested by the worthless prettyboy a few seasons back. Well, the pig certainly hasn't improved since then, and Luca Blight's power has only exponentially grown. The ultimate creator of evil fell to his blade. The Lord of Time, outlasted by Luca's insane toughness. A tree of damnation, sliced and torched under Luca's seething flames. Nothing has even so much as ruffled Luca's mad demeanor. Luca shall laugh at the gothy angel as he approaches the ultimate duelling victory.

Didn't Sephiroth once lose a fight to a thirteen-year old wielding a giant key? I think that says a lot about how strong he is.

Sephiroth beats Luca in everything - damage, speed, HP, not to mention the simple strategy of flying up and silencing Luca for the win.
Everything except fans, anyway. Who'd have thought?

What do you call a psychopathic berserker prince who can melee attack thrice a turn, with 2HKO damage to PCs, or use strong fire magic, and has lots and lots and *lots* of HP?
Well, if you are a typical person, you call him "ohgodpleasedonthurtmenonotthefacenottheFACE!"
However, if you are a damage-resistant high-flying fellow with a magical gravity attack that inflicts mute and damages the enemy based on the enemy's current HP, you call him "target practice".
And eventually, "pig food".

Luca Blight does two things: hit you in the face with a sword, and hit you in the face with a firey sword. Sephiroth can fly up out of sword range. Game, set, match.

The severly over-rated Luca should have fallen a long time ago, and now Sephiroth gives him the chance to. Just one attack from Sephiroths enough, Luca's human at best and should'nt have even made Godlike, so Sephiroth just kills him as easily as he did Aeris, the death of a charicter that kept FFVII from being as good as it could have.

Upon thinking about it, I examined Sephiroth's attacks, which are royal hell to PCs- especially in groups. The problem is that Sephiroth's attacks aren't quite that devastating when you throw an asston of immunities into the entire fight. Luca is immune to status, ID, HP drain, HP-1, Instant Near-Fatal hits, and a variety of other goodies. It would be a slugging grudge match.
Which I seriously don't foresee Luca winning. He's tough and strong- none tougher, you could say. He can soak up damage like no tomorrow. It's just the disparity between his ability to dish out damage and Sephiroth's ability to hurt is pretty big- probably bigger than the difference between Luca's absurd toughness and Sephiroth's respectable durability (at least for a Final Fantasy boss).
Of course, there's the point that Luca goes through 18 heroes and half an army and is still standing while Sephiroth can't face down a bunch of angstballs at once.
Sephiroth also has a bunch of problems relating to his convoluted backstory, strong Oedipal tendencies, and plenty of conflicting theories about what, exactly, he IS at the point where you fight him. Some have him being a very, very strong figment of Cloud's imagination, others have him as a mental projection, the list goes on. Sephiroth is inscrutible.
He's just so... confusing. And a big helping of his power comes from the fact that he is adept at taunting and confusing his would-be assailants... none of which means anything against Luca Blight, really, since Luca Blight is bloody-minded and driven enough to scream down any quip that might come this way. He's pretty much impossible to faze.
All in all? I can think of plenty of reasons why Luca SHOULD win this fight. And I'm beginning to HATE Sephiroth, partly because he beat Yuna last season, which I don't see happening.
