Season 25, Week 2
Ryu
(Breath of Fire II)

Despite being known as the weakest of his draconic incarnations, the Ryu of the second Breath of Fire is hardly a slouch in combat, though he's not as obscenely powerful as his other selves. Many seasons ago, he fought his way up from Heavy to secure his rightful position in Godlike, and he still packs enough firepower to prove that that upgrade wasn't just a fluke. For all her status as a previous champion and the bevy of Aeons at her beck and call, High Summoner Yuna is still but a PC, and not a particularly durable one at that. The being doesn't exist who can withstand the full might of G. Dragon, and she's no exception to this rule. All he needs is a single turn, Ryu can claim victory and start his run for the title.

Spira's final High Summoner returns to the arena this week, and her timing couldn't be better. After all, Ryu the third's record-setting back-to-back Godlike championships have left Yuna, for the first time in eleven seasons, with something to prove. Once called Godlike's strongest PC, she now finds herself in the shadow of a blue-haired dragonboy. And what better way to light her path out than by beating up on another one of those dragon brood? Sure, compared to his later forms, Ryu the second isn't much of a test, but Yuna's a woman on a mission all the same. If it means splattering her foe before he moves with Anima, Valefor, or, to put an ironic twist on his loss, the Dragon King Bahamut, then so be it.
