Zidane's Revenge
~superaielman

"Friends, I've assembled us here today for a special meeting. We have been mocked and tormented for long enough. We're heroes! Champions of battle and slayer of evil. Nothing we've done makes us deserve this kind of disrespect." At this, Sten stood up and clapped.

"Speak for youself, idiot monkeyboy." A battered Graham Cray said, clearly annoyed.

"We are here to seek redress, and nothing more. We have the potential to do so now, with a source of funds that dwarfs even my own. Come out, prince Charmles". As Zidane signaled to the door, a portly young man walked to the front of the room and smiled.

"Anyway," Zidane cleared his throat, and pointed to a hastily put together chart. "Our targets are as such:

"A. Edge Eblan. This pervert has offended us countless times and managed to destroy us. No longer will he be given free reign! He's interfered with my plans for the last time."

"B. Maria Traydor, Franz of Iskay, Shigeo of God's Ten Wise Men.

"C. Alys Brangwin. She's denied the advances of Sten and myself too many times. We will strike her down, for lal the pain she's caused us!

"And Fou-Lu.

The group erupted in commotion at the last. "Him?! Eeeeek! How will we manage to take down the dragon god? Besides, he's done nothing to us."

Zidane sneered. "We won't. A simple thing we need from him.."

"I have but one request. Bring me back Fou-Lu's Dragon Tear. That will surely impress Father enough to give me the throne!", snorted Charmles.

"Charmles's request is most reasonable. Our plan is simple. We scout out each target with my own elite tracking skills. Cray will research and find weakness, and Charmles will provide the funding we need for any equipment and support. He's even aquired the services of one warrior for our goals. Valygar Corthala shares our hate for mages and the evil they've brought us."

"... I'm a mage, you idiot!" Cray interrupted. When Zidane made no sign of hearing him, he just twitched and sighed.

"If at any point we're in trouble, Sten can spring into action and provide needed backup. Gentlemen, our times of shame are over. Zidane's crew will avenge themselves upon the DL!"

  • Zidane succeeds, and his crew becomes the most feared of DL factions.
  • Zidane fails, but manages to escape without too much damage done.
  • Zidane's plans are uncovered early by everyone, and the crew is crushed.

There are many truths in the DL. One is that Kefka will always be around to make his creepy 16-bit laugh. Another is that FF8 characters are an easy win for almost everybody.

And the last is that Zidane's destiny is to fail. Between Ghaleon playing volleyball with his forehead to the sheer bad luck he's had every other time he's been in the DL, Zidane is not someone you think of when you think "victory".

And so it is here.

Unfortunately for the crew, every problem that could go wrong does go wrong, and they are- as the choice above aptly states- crushed.

On attempting to find Edge, all they find is a note with the words " You guys?" followed by hastily scribbled ha-ha's. Bystanders report that Edge's laughter could be heard over four blocks of DL's main city. Unfortunately for Zidane and crew, Edge's report on what they were planning was heard over a much larger distance, and so Edge didn't bother fighting them himself: he just watched what happened after.

After hearing the deal from Edge, Maria Traydor and Franz of Iskay made a deal with Shigeo; posing as bodyguards of Shigeo's massively popular rock band, they managed to catch Zidane as he snuck into the band's backstage area during one of their sold-out concerts and promptly beat him within an inch of his life.

Alys Brangwin opted to stay outside the band area, and when the unlucky monkey staggered out of the band room, beaten terribly, he saw nothing but an elixir on the ground in front of him. Upon drinking it, the then-healed Genome looked up and saw Alys.

His screams barely penetrated the raging rock music blaring through the arena.

Zidane finally went to return to Charmles' mansion, to report his failure. When he got there, however, there was blood on the walls and one person on the seat in front of him.

They say Zidane's eyes grew larger than his head when Fou-Lu said, " Hello."

Zidane's crew is doomed from the beginning in having Zidane as their leader. Let's put it this way, Zidane is a monkey boy. Meanwhile, his crew's targets are comprised of a Ninja, a Dragon Tyrant, an intergalactic chick with a gun...Do I really need to go on here?

If anything, Edge's going to find out about this on one of his escapades, tell the others, and Zidane is going to find himself getting kicked in the groin by numerous DL women for $2 bucks a turn by Sunday.

Zidanes plan always fails, but he is a thief and can use his flee ablity to escape.
